In order to operate the evaporation cooler with maximum efficiency, a stable volume flow is required. Monitoring the volume flow also leads to energy savings, as external air supply units can be adapted (throttled) to the existing volume flow. Due to the difficult process parameters, it is impossible to use differential pressure measurements on the evaporative cooler. Optical measuring devices also quickly reach their limits here due to the high dust load. Until today, the air velocities are either not controlled at all or are controlled with the help of an optical measuring device. In many places, the fans are also run permanently at high load, which brings with it a huge potential savings. Solids & Recycling-Technik Dortmund trade fairs expand and open an additional hall for 9 and 10 October 2024 The interest in exhibition space at the Solids & Recycling-Technik trade fairs in Dortmund shows no sign of abating. The previously planned halls are already fully booked for the upcoming event on 9 and 10 October 2024. That’s why the organiser Easyfairs has quickly gone one better and added an additional hall. Additional lecture stages, a central business bar and the start-up area are located in the new hall and will also ensure a high level of knowledge transfer and optimal networking opportunities. This procedure enables PROBAT to use a large part of the hot air generated to support the process and thus save energy. The company saves money through lower energy costs while maintaining the same product quality. In order to be able to operate these roasters in an energy-efficient manner, it is important to know which air volume flows through the roaster. Depending on the type of coffee and roasting profile, different volume flows may be required. A correctly set and controlled volume flow ensures high roaster efficiency through optimal energy transfer to the coffee bean. If the volume flow is set incorrectly, the energy transfer to the bean would have to be adjusted via the temperature of the roasting gas, which would have a significant impact on the roaster’s efficiency.
