When dry bulk solids are stored in closed containers, there is not only a risk of overfilling, but also a risk of dust explosions. The correct pressure relief must always be ensured, and at the same time the fill level must not become too high. Many operators make do with reinforced walls and other devices in case of an explosion. Conductivity Measurement with MLA1000 On the way to and at their destination, light mineral oils such as kerosene, petroleum or rolling and hydraulic oils are refined, cleaned and transshipped, among others. As they have a low conductivity, there is a very high risk of electrostatic charges during the many different processes. Regular checks and documentation are required to safely manage and control these work steps and thus avoid charging. MBA Instruments, the specialist for conductivity measurement, has taken up this challenge and developed the MLA1000 meter which quickly and continuously delivers exact measurement results so that effective measures can be taken to prevent electrostatic charges. Strictly designed in accordance with the German TRGS 727 Technical Rule, the meter ensures the safe transport of light mineral oils to their destination. Inadequate protection against explosion can result in consequential damage in silos, mills and other contained facilities. Combustible dusts, encountered, for instance, during the manufacture and storage of grain, feed and fertilizers, frequently ingress into the hazardous range, even reaching the explosive limit. Stall D12 Technology for level and conductivity measurement MBA Instruments GmbH, the level and conductivity measurement technology specialist, is presenting the measuring device MLA1000, the only one of its kind in the world, at the trade fair TANK STORAGE GERMANY from 25 to 26 November 2015. The new conductivity measuring device, installed directly within the pipeline, continuously measures the conductivity of light oils, such as kerosene (Jet A-1) while in flux. Using this method, the additives infused to prevent electrostatic charging can be controlled in an extremely precise manner and in accordance with the principle ”as much as is necessary and as little as possible”. The conductivity rating of kerosene in a pipeline is, thus, precisely adjusted and is continuously maintained at the value defined. Direct drive without gearbox, powerful motor with miniature paddle Direct drive without gearbox, powerful motor with miniature paddle, selectable pre-set parameter combinations for universal use - these are the main features of the new series of rotating paddle type version MBA800 for level measurement. The idea is old, but it has never been implemented yet. The inspiration for implementation of these ideas was the MBA-owned patent for magnetic coupling (patent no.: EP1357366B1). By now, the idea of the magnetic coupling has now been developed as an integral component in permanent magnetic synchronous motors. Due to the direct drive variable-speed motor control, parameters can be coordinated in such a way that the various functions of the machine can be adjusted to the different types of bulk goods and their characteristics in the relevant application.
