Bucket elevators, an efficient solution
Bucket elevators, an efficient solution
How can you use your expensive soil economically efficient? This is possible with a bucket elevator. If you raise your product with an elevator to a height of, for example, 30 meters, you only need a ground surface of approximately 2 m². A belt conveyor quickly reaches a length of 60 meters, with supports the surface area needed will easily be 120 m². What you need for a bucket elevator * a good foundation * a metered supply of product * lateral support per 10 meter height Suitable means of transport The bucket elevator has already proven its value as an extremely reliable means of transport for the transport of dry materials such as grains and flours. Due to the development and application of rubber belts and plastic inserts, there is hardly any elongation and the powers to be transferred have been greatly improved. Because of this and the use of modern plastic cups, the elevator is also very suitable as a means of transport for sand, gravel and other abrasive

Now available - WDA4 Motion Alignment Sensor
The WDA4 is a non-contacting high-power, extended range magnetic proximity sensor, for alignment and motion detection on bucket elevators and conveyors 4B have just launched the upgraded version of the WDA, the WDA4, now with the ability to reverse the state of the continuous output (normally energised or normally de-energised). This sensor is a great choice for measuring speed and alignment on bucket elevators and on other applications such as using the WDA switch as broken/slack chain detector on drag chain conveyors or as a non-contact speed switch for screw conveyors. The WDA4 supersedes the WDA3 – meaning that the WDA3 is no longer ATEX approved. The WDA4 complies with the latest ATEX and IECEx certification but is not currently CSA approved. The WDA4 is a non-contacting high-power, extended range magnetic proximity sensor, not affected by dust or material build up, used to detect moving ferrous material up to 75mm away from the sensor. The sensor is designed for use with bucket elevators to detect the buckets in order to measure speed and alignment. It can also detect screw conveyor flights, and ferrous

4B Nylathane - next generation industrial elevator buckets 4B’s Nylathane buckets offer the opportunity to replace traditional steel and ductile iron elevator buckets with a similarly durable but lighter weight option
4B Nylathane - next generation industrial elevator buckets
4B’s Nylathane buckets offer the opportunity to replace traditional steel and ductile iron elevator buckets with a similarly durable but lighter weight option Industrial elevator bucket designs have not changed significantly since the 1950s. However, the introduction of Nylathane, by 4B Group, brings a new technology to the industry. Nylathane is a unique polymer that combines Nylon 6 with an elastomer. It has the durability of nylon with the slick release surfaces associated with polyurethane. This combination makes it ideal for bucket elevators in the cement industry where impact tolerance and discharge efficiency of sticky or powdery products are required to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency. Prior to its use in elevator buckets, Nylathane has been field proven in even more demanding applications such as track pads for tractors. Iron or steel elevator buckets can be prone to deformation or breakage due to impact from foreign objects or operational issues. Once deformed their capacity and efficiency is diminished. Deformed elevator buckets pose a risk to further damaging the bucket elevator system

Inspection and overhaul of IGMA Amsterdam terminal elevator
Overhaul makes elevator better than ever. Muller Beltex has worked for IGMA for many years and is jointly responsible for the installations. The work we performed Elaborate inspections of the technical components of one of the floating weighing towers, a 36 MT crane with a capacity of 1500 MT/hour. The report showed that certain components required action in order to guarantee reliability; preventive and corrective maintenance. Belt replacement Wear on the back of the bucket elevator belt was observed making the belt’s replacement a necessity. This was also true for the rubber pulley lagging of both drive pulleys. The crowning of the return pulleys, which was too much, exerted unnecessarily high forces and friction on the belt, as well as on the belt fastener and elevator buckets. Proper planning By preparing a suitable and thorough action plan, with a realistic time span for implementing the inspection report’s recommendations, it was decided to carry out the various activities in a single efficient stop. The existing belts and both drive pulleys were hoisted to the lower deck using a telescopic

4B Group Launches Nylathane™ - The Next Generation of Industrial Elevator Buckets. Tough as Nylon - Slick as Urethane. 4B, a world leading supplier of bucket elevator and conveyor components, announces the release of its Nylathane™ line of industrial elevator buckets engineered for maximum durability and efficiency. Nylathane™ is a high-performance polyamide 6 (Nylon 6) based polymer that is toughened through the addition of an elastomer. Typical applications include ultra-high performance elevator buckets for high impact and high wear resistance industrial applications. Using Nylathane™ in lieu of steel can reduce part weight by as much as 75%. Lighter buckets can prolong the life of costly components such as elevator belting or chain, can help reduce energy consumption of the equipment, and can help improve personnel safety while handling the parts. Nylathane™ possesses anti-stick properties that help improve bucket fill and discharge efficiency, and static conductive properties that help improve safety when conveying materials that generate combustible dust. Wear and temperature resistant chain elevator for foundry sand
Sinfimasa designs and manufactures tailor-made elevators, such as this case: a robust and wear-resistant elavator for temperatures up to 500ºC Elevator for foundry sand Sinfimasa designs and manufactures tailor-made elevators. Each elevator is individually adapted to the specific project. We want to share publicly how we solve the problems posed by the market. Our customer is an important foundry that needed to recover the sand used in its manufacturing process in order to reuse it for the filling of its moulds. Wear and temperature resistant The difficulties in this project are that this type of sand is very abrasive and that the working temperature at the inlet of the elevator is 200ºC with peaks of up to 500ºC. Therefore, we designed a chain bucket elevator. We used a round steel chain, as the high abrasiveness of the sand would cause unacceptable wear on the bushings. The chain alloy contains a high percentage of manganese, which makes it wear resistant. The buckets are also reinforced with anti-wear steel. Robust construction The coating used for both primer and finish is anti-caloric,

Elevator Re-Design from Grain to
Elevator Re-Design from Grain to "Green Malt"
Brewing & Malting: Elevator Design Improvements Challenge To utilise an existing Grain Elevator to transport “green malt”. After installation it was apparent the elevator was problematic and not functioning as expected. The installed buckets were CCS127 buckets, which replaced the obsolete J127 HDP buckets which were originally installed. After some discussion with 4B, the prognosis was the pulley may be too small for the projection of the CCS12x7 bucket. This was expected to be cured by installing CCS 12x6 but the problem still persisted although not as bad. SOLUTION After a site visit to inspect what they actually had, it was apparent the elevator was set up to transport free flowing grain. This setup was incorrect for the handling of green malt, which by nature is wet and sticky and does not flow well. The conclusion was the product was not fully discharging into the outlet but was in fact falling down the return leg back into the boot. 4B recommended two minor alterations to solve this problem. Modify

Simatek Drum Feeder Continuous Batch Feeding System
Simatek Drum Feeder
Continuous Batch Feeding System The patented Simatek Drum Feeder is next generation technology within gentle feeding of Simatek universal elevators. This unique, mechanical drum feeder has many advantages compared to traditional feeding systems. The elevator buckets are filled separately and continuously. The variable dosing of the buckets makes it possible to obtain a very high filling degree which results in a higher conveying capacity and/or lower speed compared to other feeding systems. Often it will be possible to obtain a significant increase in capacity on existing elevators when changing to a drum feeder. The filling degree may be regulated during operation by a built-in, actuator controlled damper. This is possible at any conveying speed. Because the buckets are filled separately and precisely there is no need for overlap between the buckets, thus there is no mechanical contact between the buckets. By using Free Rotating Buckets (FRB) there is no need for forced controlling. Thereby,

Elevator misalignment detector ATEX approved Rub-Block with a PT100 sensor
Elevator misalignment detector ATEX approved
Rub-Block with a PT100 sensor The Rub-Block RB200DN with a PT100 temperature sensor is designed to report the misalignment of a conveyor or elevator belt. The advantage of the Rub-Block is the fact that it will send a continuous output signal to the PLC. The Rub-Block emits a permanent life standby signal. If such a signal is absent, this must be investigated and if required the PT100 sensor must be replaced. As long as the Rub-Block emits a standby signal, it will also emit an emergency contact signal caused by its temperature rising, as soon as a belt touches it. Off-tracking belts running into the side of conveyor equipment will cause friction, which may cause damage to the belt, and may generate heat, fire, or a dust explosion. The Rub-Block is very easy to install, it will be fitted on both sides of a conveyor or elevator belt. Once the belt off-tracks and runs onto the brass plate of the Rub-Block, it will create friction and the temperature of the Rub-Block brass plate increases.
