A group-wide and international campaign has recently been launched focusing on the importance of food-compliant high-tech hoses in the food industry. The new Masterflex Group campaign aims to make customers aware of hazards that can arise from non-food compliant hoses and how these hazards can be minimized by using Masterflex Group hose solutions. The use of non-food compliant hoses can lead to serious health risks for consumers. For this reason, food compliant hoses are critical to the food industry. Hoses promote many great moments and encounter people in many everyday situations without them knowing it. Masterflex Group has a wide range of food compliant hoses specifically designed for use in food production. The campaign will be available on different platforms and in different languages to reach customers and prospects around the world.

From now on, the food hose Master-PUR Flat Food is available exclusively as an antistatic version (marked with the suffix ”A”). ”We decided to do this because this hose was mostly used to transport powders or dusts,” says Product Manager Torsten Gebhardt. The production process has also been adapted: The hose is now glued (and not welded as before). In the process, a thermoplastic melt made of the same material as the film is applied to the ends to be welded - and the film is pressed. ”You can think of it as gluing with a plastic,” says Gebhardt. The advantage: the films are much more tear-resistant and the weld seams last longer. Smooth, antistatic, tranparant The inner smoothness of the hose has also been improved. Like its predecessor, the Master-PUR Flat Food A is made of polurethane (PUR). However, a permanent antistatic agent has now been added, which is even more stable in the long term than conventional antistatic agents. Novoplast Schlauchtechnik has a European patent for a novel process for the extrusion of PE-UHMW and can now produce PE-UHMW hoses as continuous rolls. Novoplast Schlauchtechnik has been granted a European patent for a novel process for manufacturing extruded hoses from the high-performance polymer PE-UHMW - making it the only company on the market that can and is allowed to produce and process hoses as continuous rolls of PE-UHMW. Novoplast Schlauchtechnik, part of the Masterflex Group, processes the PE-UHMW developed by Japanese company Mitsui Chemicals (German distributor: Dreyplas GmbH) as granules (brand name: LUBMER). “Due to its high molecular mass and the resulting viscosity, PE-UHMW previously required complex mechanical processing”, explains Niels Mitzlaff, Director of R&D Tubing at Novoplast Schlauchtechnik. With the installation of a modern photovoltaic system on around 1,900 square meters of roof space, the Masterflex Group is taking an important step towards greater sustainability. The new photovoltaic system on the hall roof in Gelsenkirchen helps the manufacturer of hoses and hose systems made of high-performance plastics and fabrics to cover part of its energy requirements from its own resources - and at the same time to permanently reduce its carbon footprint. Specifically, Masterflex expects to generate around 340,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity in the first year of operation. The green electricity is to flow directly into ongoing production on working days. But that’s not all, because photovoltaic systems produce electricity completely without generating climate-damaging CO2. "If we take the emission factor from 2019 as a basis, around 138 tons of CO2 can be saved," project manager Hans-Jürgen Günzing has calculated. Sales and Marketing under new management A change of personnel has occurred in the Masterflex AG sales management. On 1 October 2011, Christian Horstkötter assumed the position of Sales Manager and thus succeeds Alfons Beitz. Horstkötter has many years of managerial experience in the marketing and sales of technical products in medium-sized enterprises. Alfons Beitz will change within the company to the Business Development division. Similar in construction to Combiflex PU cuff V, the Combiflex PU cuff V-EL additionally offers electrical conductivity (< 104 Ohm) in conjunction with Master-PUR L and Master-PUR H hose types. The screw-on cuff is available in sizes from DN 32 to DN 100. Depending on tube wall thickness, this special cuff allows for a smooth connection between tube and cuff/hose and connections without cross-sectional reduction.
