Extrusion of PE-UHMW hoses avoids complex mechanical processing
Novoplast Schlauchtechnik has a European patent for a novel process for the extrusion of PE-UHMW and can now produce PE-UHMW hoses as continuous rolls. Novoplast Schlauchtechnik has been granted a European patent for a novel process for manufacturing extruded hoses from the high-performance polymer PE-UHMW - making it the only company on the market that can and is allowed to produce and process hoses as continuous rolls of PE-UHMW. Novoplast Schlauchtechnik, part of the Masterflex Group, processes the PE-UHMW developed by Japanese company Mitsui Chemicals (German distributor: Dreyplas GmbH) as granules (brand name: LUBMER). “Due to its high molecular mass and the resulting viscosity, PE-UHMW previously required complex mechanical processing”, explains Niels Mitzlaff, Director of R&D Tubing at Novoplast Schlauchtechnik. The new material in combination with the now patented process enables the plastic molding compound to be formed by extrusion, making continuous hose extrusion and thus endless production possible. “The Dreyplas company provided us with very good technical support and trial materials, especially

Abrasion: An important Issue for our Customers
How Intelligent Sensor Technology Minimizes Production Downtimes in Industrial Environments Within the scope of our engineering services and the digitalization of our products, our engineers are constantly dealing with issues that concern our customers. Unplanned machine downtime and the associated production losses are challenges that we face together. In this whitepaper we get to the bottom of the subject of "wear". How does wear occur and what influences it? How does it lead to machine downtime? And how can this be prevented? We provide answers and show solutions. Go to the German version to download the white paper.

AMPIUS® - The Future of Flow Technology
The future is digital and the hose of the future is intelligent. We were the first company on the market to develop digital hose systems: AMPIUS® - The Future of Flow Technology Hoses and connection systems play an important role in the productivity, functionality, quality and safety of machines and systems. Until now, complex components such as pumps, drives or valves have been digitized. But the hose of the future is also intelligent. We are the first hose manufacturer ever to launch a complete operator system consisting of hose, sensor technology, engineering and data processing: Under the name AMPIUS® we offer hose systems with integrated life cycle tracking functions as well as a matching app. The AMPIUS® app can be used to automatically read the product signature of the hose system, which in a basic version is equipped with a digital interface as standard. In this way, technical data or "life cycle data" such as production or shipping date can be queried or requests for quotations can be made at the push of a button. Digitalisation opens up completely new possibilities in terms of product design and optimisation. In the future,

More sustainability: Masterflex relies on photovoltaics
With the installation of a modern photovoltaic system on around 1,900 square meters of roof space, the Masterflex Group is taking an important step towards greater sustainability. The new photovoltaic system on the hall roof in Gelsenkirchen helps the manufacturer of hoses and hose systems made of high-performance plastics and fabrics to cover part of its energy requirements from its own resources - and at the same time to permanently reduce its carbon footprint. Specifically, Masterflex expects to generate around 340,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity in the first year of operation. The green electricity is to flow directly into ongoing production on working days. But that’s not all, because photovoltaic systems produce electricity completely without generating climate-damaging CO2. "If we take the emission factor from 2019 as a basis, around 138 tons of CO2 can be saved," project manager Hans-Jürgen Günzing has calculated. Günzing is managing the project from the planning stage until the roof is generating its own solar power, which takes about six months. A decisive criterion here is the roof load, because the roof must

    Masterflex expands business in India
Masterflex, a specialist for technical hoses and connection systems, is expanding its commitment on the subcontinent with a new Internet presence and a local partner. The new website provides multinational and Indian companies with information about the high-quality products of the Masterflex, Novoplast Schlauchtechnik and APT brands. The local partner for sales is the technical distributor Ovum Technologies, based in Delhi and Mumbai. "India is an important market for us," says Oliver Hascher, managing director at Masterflex Asia. "We expect the Indian manufacturing sector to grow significantly over the next five to ten years." More and more multinational companies are setting up production facilities in India. This also increases the demand for high-quality, certified and safe hoses and connection systems. Says Hascher: "We anticipate a market with good growth potential and significantly increasing demand for our products." Masterflex is launching its commitment on the subcontinent together with a local partner: Ovum Technologies is a technical distributor for industrial hoses with branches in India’s two most important

Masterflex: Capture all info with a beep
Save time and money when entering orders with the customer-specific barcode that Masterflex now prints on its delivery bills. Customers can now save time and money when entering their orders: Masterflex prints customer-specific barcode information on its delivery bills on request. This makes the ordering process even more convenient: on delivery, the barcode simply has to be scanned and the data is already in the customer’s merchandise management system. No more tedious typing, no more sources of error - and more time for other orders. Want to know more? In our latest YouTube video, Ingo Dehne, an internal sales representative at Masterflex, explains the advantages of individual barcodes on delivery bills - and how customers can start using them right away.
