UWT implements level measurement for demanding processes

UWT GmbH has successfully completed a challenging project at one of the largest cement plants in Kazakhstan. The plant operator required a solution for a reliable continuous measurement process in the cement silo. Dusty and particularly harsh conditions prevail in the building materials industry, in quarries or in mining. High demands are placed on level measuring devices - solid sensor technology with uncompromising robustness and unrestricted reliability are therefore of the utmost importance. The significant challenges in this project lay in the extreme environment - characterised by high dust formation, lump formation, and high process temperatures. Upgrade of level monitoring system in grain storage

A large grain storage facility in the south of England required a reliable content measuring device to replace an old acoustic wave system which was no longer functioning. Configured was a non-contact radar measurement device from UWT combined with a visualization software. To produce natural rosemary extract in Slovenia a continuous content measurement for several tanks was installed. These work with the capacitive measuring principle, which is becoming increasingly popular, and have been configured for special process connections. Upgrade of level monitoring system in grain storage

A large grain storage facility in the south of England required a reliable content measuring device to replace an old acoustic wave system which was no longer functioning. Non-contact continuous level measurement UWT (UK) Limited proposed the use of the free-radiating radar NivoRadar® NR 3100 which could be supplied with an aiming flange. The integrated aiming flange allowed the radar to be mounted in the same position as the previous acoustic wave device which was close to the silo side wall and which allowed for the narrow 4˚ beam to be aimed towards the lowest point of the silo. International Autumn Training 2017

More than 20 nations come together in the beautiful Allgäu region We look back to a very successful and interesting autumn training which took place from 6th – 7th November. More than 30 participants of our international partners from all over the world gathered at UWT headquarters in Betzigau so that more than 20 nations from around the globe were represented. New NivoRadar® NR 3000

Innovative. Precise. For challenging conditions and material The robust stainless steel construction makes the continuous non-contact level measurement NivoRadar® NR 3000 extremely suitable for all kinds of industrial applications. The unit operates at a high frequency of 78 GHz. This delivers a very small beam angle of 4° which eliminates any signal interference at the flange but allows for optimum reflection of the bulk solids material. You can measure distances up to 100 meters and the sensor can be used especially in very fine solids due to the high sensitivity. The NivoRadar® offers a flat flange version and also an aiming flange version. Using the adjustable aiming flange, the radar is perfectly aligned since the probe can be fixed to the desired point. The new RFnivo® is the first choice for many bulk applications All RFnivo® probes come with the Active Shield technology as standard. The Active Shield technology prevents faulty switching caused by the build-up of material which is prone to caking or bridging on the probes extensions or caused by the build-up of condensed water in the process. 5th International Autumn Training 2013

23 Participants from 20 nations come together in the beautiful Allgäu region We look back to a very successful and interesting autumn training which took place from the 20th to 23rd of October. 23 participants of our international distributors from all over the world gathered at UWT headquarters in Betzigau. Represented were a total of 20 nations from around the globe including countries such as Tunisia, France, Estonia, Russia and Bahrain. After the joint factory tour we got down to business. Looking for Pioneers! Utange Project Ursula Stein from Betzigau, Board Member of the voluntary organsiation Utange, supports children in Kenia. "Allgaeu Comets" Kick Off Meeting 2013 at UWT - Here we go!

Targets for 2013: Trainer Brian Caler reveals the Allgaeu Comets` strategy Head coach Brian Caler invited the whole team, young players and football fans to a Kick Off Meeting to sum up the 2012 campaign and to focus on the coming months. Everyone gathered together in the conference rooms at UWT GmbH –Level Control in Betzigau/Germany. After a short introduction by Joachin Hoessl – Manager, the Head Coach (Brian Caler) reviewed the campaign in 2012 - which targets have been reached, which have not and what areas require action. The Head Coach praised the attendance levels at training sessions, “To have 59 players in the training camps and to have up to 42 players in training during the campaign is a great base to work with”, said Brian Caler. However, there is still room for improvement - in discipline and also in speed during training – these areas need to be focused upon during the next campaign. New sales engineer in action since May We cordially welcome Kevin Walter to our team. Born in 1985 Kevin Walter is a new member of the UWT sales team since May this year. He likes to spend his leisure time in nature with biking and rock climbing. The certified engineer collected sales experience the last one and a half years at M-Net and will enrich the UWT-team as a sales engineer after intensive training. Kevin Walter will technically support the sales office and sales force, will take over the technical development of comprehensive projects (measurement, visualization, installation, commissioning) and will conduct technical trainings for employees and partners of UWT. He also will assist in customer meetings and product presentations and carry out the service and commissioning of the UWT units for our customers. Ingeniously simple level controls for bulk solids with UWT rotating paddle switches PNP Electronics The new PNP electronics for the Rotonivo® 3000 and Rotonivo® 4000 ranges uses 3-wire electronics technology with a non-contact output, open collector, PNP. The maximum output current is 0.4A. These electronics can be connected to any standard PLC with 24V DC power supply and PNP input card. The detection signal – the sensor switched to either ‘full/occupied’ or ‘empty/unoccupied’ – is not via micro switches as in the past, but using Hall sensors. Via two Potentiometers, both detection signals 1 and 0 can be time delayed. Additionally a jumper can be switched between FSH and FSL. UWT Germany and UWT China organize a seminar event in Asia for technicians, service and sales staff UWT’s managing partner Uwe Niekrawietz traveled together with the product manager Johannes Blochum to Shanghai/China in the mid of September, to carry out a seminar event together with UWT China. High-ranking Chinese managers visiting Betzigau

Chinese delegation of the Chongqing Steel Group visited UWT in mid-July High-ranking managers of the Chongqing Steel Group of China together with the managing director of our company in Shanghai were guests of UWT from11th to 17th July. New partner JMC visited UWT from 26th until 27th May 2011

Product training for the new Japanese sales partner UWT is continuing the expansion, and since December 2010 we have a new sales partner in Asia. Four employees of our new partner JMC in Japan have been here in Betzigau at the end of May for two days for an intensive product training. The gentlemen came from Osaka and Tokyo. Our Product Manager, Mr. Johannes Blochum, instructed the employees of JMC in an intensive training on the skills which are necessary for successful sales of UWT products. The training contents were a basic product training for all UWT-products, in-depth basic knowledge of the products SN/VN/NB, practical exercises on the NB (setup, change of rope/tape, PCB replacement), introduction Nivowave (startup NW, connection to PC) and applications, application examples and success stories. Distributor CNN organized a seminar in Kuala Lumpur In the beginning of May our International Sales Manager, Mr. Markus Schalk, was away on a seminar and customer tour in Malaysia. On this trip Mr. Schalk performed three half-day seminars. The first technical seminar entitled "Solid Level Measurement - Overview About The Different Technologies" took place in Dorsette Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Visit of the State Commission of Belarus at UWT

Certification of UWT products for the Belorussian market As part of the governmental certification of the UWT products for the Belorussian market the audit commission visited the headquarters of UWT in Betzigau from 21st to 25th March. The goal of the metrological certification is the registration of the UWT products Nivobob and Nivowave in the State Register of Measurement Technology of the Republic of Belarus. During the visit numerous tests and examinations have been conducted with these units. The test results showed that the UWT products Nivobob and Nivowave meet all Belorussian standards and therefore there is no further obstacle to the registration. Limit detection in a thermochemical reactor

Rotonivo in high temperatures The Challenge The company Pyroforce was looking for level limit detectors to work in a reactor, which produces gas for power generation. The sensors control the feed of woodchips, which burn up in the reactor. Also the discharge of the ash should be controlled by a limit sensor. The challenges in this application are the high temperature of 600°C and the condensing hydrocarbons like tar. The Solution The feed of the woodchips will be controlled by a UWT paddle switch ROTONIVO® 6000. This full detector is installed on the top of the reactor in an angular position. Is the sensor free of woodchips, the feed screw switches on with a time delay and woodchips are filled in the reactor from a storage silo. If the level gets to the sensor the screw will be stopped. In the upper part of the reactor there are temperatures of about 600°C. The high temperature and the condensing hydrocarbons like tar are the critical elements in this process which influence the function

Markus Rinderspacher, leader of the SPD in the Bavarian parliament, visited UWT on 20th December. During the visit he was particularly interested in business and employment policy. On the one hand he was positive impressed by the worldwide business relationships of UWT and on the other hand by the company"s philosophy to employ professionals over 50 years. During his conversation with the UWT leadership the SPD politician was confirmed that this strategy has proven in the past to be very valuable. Successful Presentation of UWT`s Managing Partner in Munich

Malta Enterprise Promotes Investment in Malta Malta’s promotion in the German market continued on 10th November with a business workshop in Munich organised by Malta Enterprise with the support of the German Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Malta in Germany. The workshop focused on the opportunities that Malta can offer as a business location, even for SMEs, and was attended by over 40 participants from a wide variety of sectors. The benefits of investing in Malta and the success that has already been achieved by German companies who have already set up their operations in the country were highlighted by Malta Enterprise’s representative in Germany and the Ambassador of Malta to Germany. Successful NB3 project in China

Our customer, Chongqing Steel, one of the biggest steel manufacturers in China was looking for a reliable content measurement system even in the extremely rough and harsh environment of steel plant applications such as coal, lime stone, iron ore etc.. The particular challenge was to guarantee reliable measurement and ensure easy operational set-up. Previous other technologies failed in the application or would have caused very high maintenance costs (e.g. regular cleaning intervals). The NB3200 measuring system gives added values such us tape version for low maintenance as well as an integrated tape cleaner for the dusty atmospheres. The NB3 assured next to low maintenance & reliable measurement a very long life time on a very difficult application. In total 90 pieces of our NB3200 were installed in the different applications.

Electromechanical plumb bob for automatic level measurement in silos

Optimised cost-performance ratio, high reliability, quick installation Today content measurement in smaller silos for building materials or within the feed and grain industries are still determined manually what is viable especially for frequent measurement cycles. The results are often estimated and not accurate at all. The new electromechanical plumb bob Nivobob 4000 was designed by the experts at UWT GmbH Level Control to fit those applications where price is the decisive factor. An aiming flange offers the option to install the instrument directly on the silo roof without any special mounting socket and can then cover ranges up to 30 meters. Two versions are available: a model with rope for dry products and one with tape for adhesive products. The latter provides an automatic tape cleaning system which protects the interior of the instrument from material pollution. "UWT-Distributor Challenge 2009"

Sales partner from different countries spent a weekend peppered with great activities During the year 2009 a Distributor Challenge was announced were different targets were given to the sales partners. Finally four were to meet or even overdo their target and were invited for this great incentive. The winners who were invited to join in for this event were from Russia, Norway, Belgium and the Czech Republic. All the days were packed with several activities. Whether it was the bobsleighing, the snow showing or simply the enjoyment of the traditional beer and food – it was a very cosy and friendly atmosphere throughout all days together with our partners. A guided tour through the facilities of the Erdinger Arena at Oberstdorf was another good experience. The gracefulness and the huge dimensions of this world-famous jump-off platform are just impressing. Even the posing on the rostrum was something special for everyone.

The German bulk goods level measurement specialist, UWT Level Control, is pleased to announce the opening of their first sales office in the United Kingdom. Based in the historic Shropshire town of Shrewsbury Mr. Graeme Hughes has been supporting UWT clients since October 2009. 4 new Trainees for UWT

Since the beginning of September four trainees take the first steps into profesional life at UWT`s Besides training for commercial professions UWT offers now for the first time the possibility to get training also for industrial as well as technical jobs. Roofing ceremony

UWT GmbH is expanding The roofing ceremony for the new building with a floor space of 2600 square metres was celebrated in the end of september. The new building is added smoothly on the existing one. Due to filled order books the amount of employees is expected to double within the next six to seven years. Ground breaking ceremony

10. July 2008 Less than three years after the first sod was turned for UWT’s four storey office block, there is more building news on the horizon. On 10 July, the next sod was turned to overcome the acute lack of space; this time for a combined production and office building with three levels. UWT’s agents, customers and not to forget the employees have advanced the success and growth of the company so that the current “new” office building was no longer sufficient for the requirements of the growing enterprise. The new ecologically compatible building will be constructed using local raw materials and will offer an effective floor space of 2,600 square metres over three storeys. Built according to the passive energy (ultra low energy) standards, it is expected that energy requirements will be far exceeded!
