Certificated reliability – UWT receives AEO C Certificate

Complied to the indicators financial solvency, legal conformity and safety

Since December 2015 UWT GmbH has the certificate AEO C “status for customs simplification” and therefore was acknowledged as Authorized Economic Operator against the customs.

The introduction of the so-called authorized economic operators (AEO) is a provision of customs law, which aims to identify potential risks within a supply chain to achieve ultimately a more efficient monitoring of the global movement of goods. A company with the status of AEO is considered to be particularly reliable and trustworthy and therefore can receive special benefits e.g. concerning the customs clearance. (lt. Bundesverband Großhandel, Außenhandel, Dienstleistungen e.V.)

Background is the increasing globalization and the changing international security policy, that prompted the World Customs Organization to establish a ”Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade” for a modern and effective risk management in customs administrations. In 2005 the European Union has implemented these security aspects into European legislation and concretized them with the publication of the implementing regulations in 2006. The aim is to ensure a continuous international supply chain from the manufacturer of the goods to the consumer.

The following listed criteria have to be fulfilled by UWT to become an authorized economic operators (AEO):

• Compliance of customs requirements
• Satisfactory accounting system
• Proven financial solvency

Though the certification as an AEO there are many advantages in customs clearance due to reductions in security-related customs controls as well as in general simplifications according to the customs rules.

In addition, there also may be indirect benefits through process optimization and internal control mechanisms, such as:

• Less thefts
• Less unexplained losses of goods
• Less delayed shipments
• Less security incidents
• Better cooperation with business partners

This certification is an indicator of the high reliability of the UWT GmbH as an international trading partner with a secure solvency, corresponding to all relevant legislation.
