Optimizing Bulk Solids Discharge with Inverted Hopper Technology
Sinfimasa introduces inverted hopper designs for screw conveyors to eliminate bridging and blockages, ensuring a consistent and efficient flow of challenging bulk materials in industrial processing environments. Overcoming Flow Obstructions in Industrial Hoppers In the handling of bulk solids, traditional hopper geometries often lead to structural issues such as bridging or ”rat-holing.” These phenomena occur when material packs together above the discharge outlet, halting the production line and requiring manual intervention. By implementing an inverted hopper design, the physical pressure on the outlet is redistributed. This geometry prevents the formation of stable arches, allowing for a continuous feed into the screw conveyor system regardless of material cohesiveness. The adoption of inverted hopper configurations provides several technical benefits for bulk material handling: Key Advantages of Inverted Hopper Integration * Reduction of material compaction at the conveyor inlet. * Prevention of bridging and arching in cohesive powders. * Enhanced volumetric efficiency for screw conveyors. * Minimized downtime caused by flow interruptions. * Improved safety…

3D Volumetric Mapping Revolutionizes Grain Silo Management
Traditional single-point sensors leave massive data gaps in grain silos. RETTAR’s real-time 3D volumetric reconstruction provides complete silo transparency, preventing unexpected inventory shortages and spoilage. Real-Time 3D Radar Solves Inaccurate Volume Readings In corn and wheat silos, material surfaces are rarely flat. Grains naturally form peaks and valleys based on how they are loaded or discharged. Traditional sensors often fail here, providing inaccurate volume readings. The 3DPro2300 Radar Scanner solves this by performing real-time 3D volumetric reconstruction of the material surface. As a product of RETTAR’s expertise, this scanner captures multiple points across the grain pile to provide an accurate mapping of the inventory. This high level of Silo Transparency allows managers to see the actual distribution of stock, preventing unexpected shortages or overflows. Protecting By-Product Quality via Smart Sensor Networks Processing by-products like soybean meal and wheat bran are sensitive to environmental changes. Variations in temperature and moisture can alter material density and quality, making storage a high-stakes task. Using a Multi-Point Average Temperature…

AirScrape, now in operation in the big Mines in Australia.
Latest Conveyor Technology Innovation in Western Australia: ScrapeTec and KINDER Join Forces for Cleaner, Safer, More Profitable Belt Operations Western Australia represents industrial scale like few other regions. In the iron ore districts of the Pilbara, as well as in gold and lithium operations and port and handling facilities, conveyor systems run around the clock—across kilometre-long routes, in harsh climatic conditions, and at very high throughputs. At this magnitude, conveyor performance is no longer only about productivity; it is increasingly about compliance, safety, and the industry’s social licence to operate. Operator requirements have shifted noticeably in recent years. In addition to availability and tonnage, occupational safety, environmental regulations, dust management, emissions reduction, and sustainable plant operation have moved to the centre of attention. This is precisely where a new distribution partnership targets the Australian market for sealing systems and dust control in conveying: ScrapeTec in Germany and the KINDER Group in Australia. Under the partnership, KINDER assumes…

Increasing the Bioavailability of Active Ingredients Enhanced efficacy of coenzyme Q10, curcuma or similar ingredients
Increasing the Bioavailability of Active Ingredients
Enhanced efficacy of coenzyme Q10, curcuma or similar ingredients To enable the body to absorb essential nutrients While this issue is the most essential for the formulation of pharmaceutical dosage forms, as it determines the efficacy of the drug, studies on the uptake of dietary supplements are only just beginning. However, water-insoluble substances cannot be absorbed by the body and must therefore be converted into a soluble micellar structure. In liquid form, these formulations have a limited shelflife stability, so a drying step follows, which produces a wide variety of product forms ranging from readily mixable powders to dust-free, easily soluble granules or compact, defined pellets. The moderate and precisely controllable process temperature in the fluidized bed or spouted bed is particularly suitable for sensitive active ingredients. Coenzyme Q10, curcuma or similar substances are typical candidates for improving bioavailability. The process steps required for this can be completely tested from micelle formation to…

New energy concept for brick production cuts CO2 emissions by 88%
Heat pumps are widely used in private homes, but in industry, process heat is often still generated using natural gas. To change this, the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in Vienna is focusing, among other things, on heat pumps for industrial process The goal is to reintegrate waste heat from existing processes back into industrial operations, thereby significantly reducing the demand for fossil fuels. The “GreenBricks” research project was jointly carried out by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and Wienerberger Austria and was recently honored with the Net Zero Industries Award in Vienna. The plant renovation at Wienerberger Austria in Uttendorf was systematically planned using digital tools developed by experts at the Center for Energy at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology. As part of the project, the world’s first electrified brick kiln was constructed, and a heat pump was also integrated to utilize the waste heat generated by the kiln during the firing process for drying the bricks. Simulations were conducted around the new electric kiln, and processes were digitally optimized with a focus on climate protection. Through the combined effect of these and other measures, approximately 30…

AirScrape Sealing System for Mechanically Spliced Belts
The contact-free AirScrape conveyor skirting system is fully compatible with mechanical belt fasteners, providing effective dust reduction and spillage control without risking interference or frictional wear at the joints. AirScrape® is a contact-free conveyor skirting system that reduces dust emissions and material spillage at transfer points by creating an air-suction Venturi sealing effect above the belt. Its suspended lamella design directs ambient air toward the belt center, containing fine airborne dust and returning coarse particles to the running line — all without touching the belt surface, which prevents frictional wear and extends belt life. And you work at a dust- and maintenance free conveyor transfer point. Compatibility with mechanical fasteners Mechanical fasteners (hinged or plate-style) are commonly used where belts must be joined quickly or where belt thickness or site conditions make vulcanized splices impractical; they are installed with staples, bolts, or rivets and form a load-bearing joint across the belt carcass. AirScrape integrates easily with mechanically-spliced belts because it is mounted above the belt and does not require contact with the belt surface,…

Smart Dust Control: Maximizing Safety with Bag Compactors
Industrial dust emissions threaten health, safety, and compliance. Big bag and bag compactors offer a powerful, closed-system solution to eliminate dust during packaging disposal while boosting operational efficiency. In industrial environments where bulk materials and packaged raw materials are processed, dust emissions remain a continuous challenge. Not only from the perspective of occupational safety and health, but also regarding product loss, environmental impact and compliance with regulations. Big bag and bag compactors provide a practical and effective solution for controlled processing of residual materials and empty packaging while significantly reducing dust dispersion. The Challenge of Residual Dust in Packaging Disposal When emptying bags and big bags, residual material is often released and spreads through the area in the form of fine dust. Traditional handling methods, where empty packaging is manually disposed of, increase the risk of dust-related problems. In these situations, compactors offer clear added value. By compressing empty bags and big bags directly after use in a closed system, dust emissions are reduced to a minimum. Specialized Compression for…

Silo Inventory Management: Optimise Multi-Silo Operations
Effective silo inventory management is the cornerstone of operational efficiency and cost control in modern processing facilities. As facilities grow, traditional management often becomes difficult. When dozens of silos are spread across a site, getting an accurate picture of inventory is a major challenge. Many companies struggle with scattered data and poor visibility. This leads to unexpected shortages or material overflows. The RETTAR Silo Cluster Manager addresses these issues. It brings silo data into one system for a real-time view of all stock. Multi-Silo Inventory Management: Bridging the Visibility Gap Managing many silos is a complex task. In the past, workers relied on hazardous manual inspection to check sensors on top of every silo. This process was slow and repetitive. It was hard to see the total inventory at a glance. Managers could not decide quickly. All important data was kept in separate places. Real-Time Total Stock Visibility * RETTAR offers a centralized system to make operations easier: * Multi-Point Measurement: One system can monitor up to 7 devices at once. *…

Modern Screening Technology Improves Throughput and Product Quality
With the SIFTOMAT and SIFTOMAT food, FUCHS Maschinen AG provides solutions for demanding screening applications in the plastics, food and bulk solids industries In many bulk solids processes, overall plant performance is not determined by the conveyor or mixer – but by the screening machine. Whenever high throughput rates, demanding product quality or difficult material characteristics come together, the screening process often becomes the critical process step. Blocked screen meshes, reduced separation efficiency and unplanned downtime directly affect product quality and plant efficiency. Modern screening technology therefore has to deliver far more than simple particle separation. Fine, sticky or moist bulk materials in particular tend to block screen apertures. As a result, the open screening area is continuously reduced, leading to lower throughput, reduced screening accuracy and increasing machine load. Even small agglomerates or foreign particles can negatively affect downstream processes or cause quality issues. Especially in the plastics, food and chemical industries, process reliability and reproducible screening…

Truck Scales for Efficient Recycling Processes SysTec Weighing Indicators and MQTT Protocols in Operation
Truck Scales for Efficient Recycling Processes
SysTec Weighing Indicators and MQTT Protocols in Operation H.P. Schlenter GmbH operates a recycling facility in Würselen, Germany, where excavated soil, concrete residues, and demolition materials from large construction sites are received and processed. A PFREUNDT WK60 wheel loader scale with a web portal has already been successfully in use for some time. Due to increasing material volumes and the need for consistent and transparent documentation of incoming and outgoing materials at the recycling facility, Schlenter recently commissioned SysTec partner PFREUNDT to build a stationary truck scale. Robust in nitric acid, reliable in CIP cleaning
UWT vibrating level switches - Safe cleaning and descaling with nitric acid – process reliability in the dairy industry In dairy processing, nitric acid (HNO₃) is specifically used to descale pipelines, heat exchangers and tank systems. Safe handling of this aggressive chemical is essential – both to protect the equipment and to ensure the safety of personnel. Cleaning is carried out as part of proven and standardised CIP (Cleaning in Place) processes that ensure the hygienic integrity of the production system. Concentrated acids or alkalis are often used for this purpose. These are stored in dedicated tanks and diluted to the required concentration during the cleaning cycle directly within the production system. For safe storage, nitric acid is kept in corrosion-resistant stainless steel tanks – ensuring long-term stability and reliable availability within the CIP system. The focus of this application is on the use of chemically resistant materials in all installed sensors to ensure long-term functional reliability and maximum process safety under demanding conditions. For…

Transform Industrial Stockpiles with RETTAR 3D Sensing Technology
Traditional sensors leave managers blind to real inventory volume. The RETTAR 3DPro250X eliminates the ”Five Barriers” of industrial data, turning physical stock into precise digital assets through real-time 3D volumetric modeling. Eliminating the Five Barriers to Operational Efficiency Are you struggling with poor data or slow reports? Many plants face ”Five Barriers.” These are low accuracy, slow data, dangerous manual checks, harsh sites, and stuck data. It is important to understand how 3D Sensing fixes these issues in this context. It creates real-time physical models. This makes your data accurate and safe. It also makes your data ready to use right away. Volumetric Modeling: Beyond Single-Point Measurements Old sensors only measure one spot. This leaves managers blind to the real shape of the material. The RETTAR 3DPro250X series Laser Scanner solves this. It creates clear 3D Volumetric models. The scanner picks up thousands of points on the surface. This gives you full Stockyard Transparency. You do not have to guess based on one level. Instead, you see the real shape and volume of your stock. This field-proven tech works on uneven piles. It turns physical stock into a clear digital…
