Vortex boosts durability in large-scale soybean handling
Vortex Global has delivered a custom-engineered solution for a major grain processor, addressing abrasion, uptime and maintenance challenges in continuous, high-capacity soybean handling operations. Engineering for abrasion in soybean processing Large-scale soybean handling exposes equipment to constant wear from seed and meal flowing at high volumes. Although individual particles are small, cumulative impact and friction at transfer points can rapidly degrade conventional components, driving downtime and maintenance costs. Vortex Global was engaged to design a gravity-flow solution capable of sustaining long-term operation in a demanding agricultural environment. The objective was to protect critical infrastructure while supporting the throughput required by modern soybean processing lines. Custom heavy-duty diverters for high throughput The project centered on the installation of two pivoting chute diverters engineered specifically for this application. With a nominal size of 1000 mm, the units were designed to manage large material volumes while maintaining structural rigidity and precise flow control. Key design priorities included long service life,

Vortex Clear Action Gate Enhances Process Reliability Industrial manufacturer Instarmac Group PLC has successfully eliminated frequent downtime by replacing problematic butterfly valves with the Vortex Clear Action Gate for handling sticky bitumen-coated limestone.
Vortex Clear Action Gate Enhances Process Reliability
Industrial manufacturer Instarmac Group PLC has successfully eliminated frequent downtime by replacing problematic butterfly valves with the Vortex Clear Action Gate for handling sticky bitumen-coated limestone. Overcoming material handling challenges In the bulk solids industry, handling abrasive and sticky materials often leads to mechanical failure. Instarmac previously faced 12-week maintenance cycles due to material compaction and twisted valve shafts caused by the weight of the material headload and inadequate sealing. Engineered for difficult applications The Vortex Clear Action Gate addresses these issues through a design that prioritizes durability and consistent sealing. Key technical features of the gate include: * Wear-compensating hard polymer seals that remain shielded from the flow. * A self-cleaning blade action that clears material from sealing surfaces. * Elimination of metal-on-metal contact to prevent seizing and galling. * Custom service inlets for seamless integration into existing vacuum systems. Measurable improvements in production Since the installation of the initial unit in early 2024, the facility has reported zero operational failures.

Vortex Gates Optimize Bentonite Recovery for Pet Litter Producer
A leading pet litter manufacturer has successfully reduced waste and costs by implementing Vortex Titan Slide and Maintenance Gates to capture and reclaim valuable bentonite dust within their production cycle. Material Recovery System Reduces Operational Costs The California facility faced significant financial losses as bentonite dust, essential for litter clumping, was being routed to scrap. By installing an integrated recovery system, the firm now returns this dust to silos. Advanced Engineering for Abrasive Bentonite Handling * Vortex Titan Slide Gates feature hard polymer seals for durability. * Maintenance gates allow for safe downstream service without leaks. * Live-loaded seals compensate for wear to ensure a dust-tight seal. * Narrow profiles allow for easy installation in tight factory spaces. Sustainable Manufacturing Through Efficient Dust Control The project has slashed raw material purchasing costs while advancing the company’s sustainability goals. By turning scrap into a resource, the plant has achieved a more circular and efficient manufacturing process.

Vortex angel hair trap enhances production efficiency
The Vortex angel hair trap is helping a plastic manufacturer in the south of the US rid their system of those devilish angel hairs that causes plastics manufacturers such headaches. A state-of-the-art compounding plant faced significant production challenges due to the formation of ”angel hair” in its pneumatic conveying systems. These plastic strands caused equipment clogs, product contamination, and increased operational costs. By implementing the Vortex Angel Hair Trap, the plant successfully eliminated these issues, leading to a substantial improvement in production efficiency, a reduction in maintenance-related downtime, and enhanced final product quality. The challenge of angel hair in plastics production In the plastic compounding industry, the pneumatic conveyance of plastic pellets is a standard process. However, this process often generates thin, fibrous strands of plastic known as ”angel hair,” ”streamers,” or ”snake skins.” While seemingly minor, the accumulation of angel hair presents a significant operational challenge. It can obstruct conveying lines, contaminate raw materials, and degrade the quality of the final

316 stainless handcrank rollergate for pelletized organic fertilizer
Vortex supplied a solution for a failing maintenance gate from one of our competitors, which caused inefficiencies and downtime. Pelletized organic fertilizer provides an eco-friendly way to enrich soil with a slow, consistent release of vital nutrients. Its granular form allows for easy and uniform distribution, making it practical and effective for improving agricultural productivity while protecting the environment. One of our customers produces pelletized organic fertilizer from biosolids, nutrient-rich organic material recycled from wastewater treatment. These biosolids are carefully processed into dry, uniform pellets for easy storage, transport, and application. This sustainable approach not only supports healthy crop growth but also helps close the waste loop, turning a byproduct into a valuable resource. Solution for failing maintenance gate The customer was using a failing maintenance gate from one of our competitors to handle their pellets, which caused inefficiencies and downtime. They reached out to us for a better solution. Our Vortex representative, Ball Sales, and our application
