Three huge cooling screw heat exchangers with a diameter of 800 mm for a HVC drinking water treatment plant Poeth Solids Processing is currently busy with the construction of a turnkey project for HVC drinking water treatment plant Alkmaar in the Netherlands. Last month our professionals have been busy producing 3 huge cooling screw heat exchangers with a diameter of 800 mm. Our test facility in Tegelen, together with a mathematical model, forms the basis for the final design of the cooling screw heat exchangers. On-site installation is currently underway. The screw heat exchangers are widely used in circular projects. Many valuable waste streams are dried and come out of a dryer at a high temperature. After drying, the product often needs to be cooled back down so that it can be safely filled e.g. a silo, big-bag or bulk truck.

After 29 years of operation, the waste wood recycling plant of the Gigler company was refurbished. Production manager Alexander Schönacher optimized the plant together with HejuTec and FB Ketten. The result: a more efficient and reliable plant. Challenge and objective The refurbishment of the waste wood recycling plant was a demanding task. The objective was to renew the wear components, eliminate bottlenecks in the conveyor system and ensure operational reliability and performance for the next three years through technical optimization. At the same time, it had to be ensured that the work was completed within the planned revision time window in order to keep the production loss as low as possible. Implementation of the renovation A decisive success factor was the close and professional cooperation of the three project partners Alexander Schönacher from Gigler, Jürgen Heinzelmann from HejuTec and FB chain application specialist Mario Fähndrich. Using SONO-GS1 enables direct moisture measurement in the material, even at hard to reach places Drying bulk solids in belt dryers When drying bulk solids with belt dryers, an air-permeable belt is filled with the product to be dried. The height of the bulk solids on the belt and the dwell time in the dryer are defined based on the product type and properties, and the water volume to be removed. By adjusting the dwell time to the mean value, it is possible to compensate for a varying moisture content. This is necessary in the production of wood pellets, for example, because the quality is no longer guaranteed if the material is excessively dry, and operating times are put at risk if the material is too moist, provided the compactor closes. The trade fair looks set to be a successful event, with around 600 exhibitors expected in Nuremberg in September. With the DUPLOCON™, WAM has developed a patented system for discharging cement from silos in concrete mixing plants, dry mortar and precast plants that does not require compressed air. One of the major challenges with compacting bulk materials such as cement or dry construction materials is keeping them free-flowing during processing. In order to prevent bridging or shaft building in the silo, these materials are usually fluidised at problematic points using air nozzles, air loosening pads or other techniques for adding air. For plant operators, this means not only high costs due to the consumption and storage of compressed air, but also high maintenance costs for the compressed air system.
