A pioneering company specializing in the development and manufacturing of equipment for the recycling industry has launched an innovative project in the Netherlands. The goal was to process burned soil as a valuable supplement for building materials. This challenging application, primarily involving dust and ash from burned solids like earth and sand, requires ultra-fine screening at 60 μm (230 Mesh) with highest purity demands. Soil is burned to eliminate harmful organic contaminants, pathogens, and invasive species, which otherwise render the soil unsuitable for construction purposes. By eliminating these impurities, the recycling industry transforms this cleaned soil into a valuable, sustainable raw material for building applications, contributing to a circular economy and meeting high environmental and safety standards. To realize this transformation, the facility was designed to achieve high-precision separation with a throughput of 20 t/h. The fine grain size, along with the abrasive and corrosive nature of the material, and temperatures reaching up to 200°C, required advanced solutions. The system has been in operation for several months and is running smoothly.

Established in 2010, the Windsor & Eton Brewery, produces over 1.2 million pints of beer annually and has won 90+ major awards. They supply to local pubs, bars, and restaurants, also run a taproom, shop, and pub in Eton named The George. Additionally, they collaborate with breweries worldwide. Earlier on, the brewery used a small metal filter for coarse filtration, to remove yeast slurry and hop material from the beer before filling into kegs, cans, and bottles. However, this filter frequently clogged, causing up to 15 minutes of downtime every hour for cleaning. By switching to the Self-Cleaning Russell Eco Filter®, the brewery eliminated this downtime. The new filter’s solids waste valve allowed continuous waste removal without halting production, processing 420,000 liters a year and saving 40 hours of downtime. The selection of wear-resistant materials depends on various factors, such as the material being conveyed, grain size and conveying speed. Our KALOCER aluminum oxide ceramic is often used. It protects against extreme abrasive wear, promotes sliding and is characterized by a very high operating temperature. It is also corrosion-resistant and can be manufactured precisely in thin walls for a weight-saving overall lining. KALMETALL hardfacing welding is extremely impact and abrasion resistant and is used to produce long-lasting conveyor screws. Kalenborn uses the wear-resistant material to manufacture the screw flights and the shaft. The variety of our own wear-resistant materials enables us to produce the right lining for every requirement.
