Sifting Machines for sugar refining: quality and sustainability
In sugar refining, quality and sustainability are key. The RHEsono screening machine excels in achieving high product purity and energy savings. INTRODUCTION In today’s sugar refining landscape, the demand for both high-quality output and sustainable practices is paramount. While the fundamental principles of sugar processing have remained consistent, the drive for enhanced efficiency and reduced environmental impact has become a focus on key areas, such as screening technology. This paper delves into the challenges and solutions associated with screening diverse sugar types, with a strong emphasis on eco-friendly screening machines that deliver superior efficiency, minimize energy consumption, and significantly lower operational costs. Recognizing that conventional screening processes, such as those used for initial washing or dewatering, are relatively straightforward, this paper focuses on the more intricate and energy-intensive screening stages involved in refining the final product. The absence of universal standards for sugar particle size distribution necessitates adaptable machinery capable of meeting

Silicosis Risk: Screeners vs. Air Sifters on Safety and Energy
Silica dust is a persistent workplace hazard. This article compares sifters with modern screening; showing how direct-excited screens achieve superior separation, lower energy demand, and better dust control, despite higher upfront costs. Why Direct‑Excited Screening Improves Safety and Energy Silicosis is a preventable occupational lung disease caused by inhaling respirable crystalline silica (quartz dust). The smallest particles can reach the alveoli, where they trigger inflammation and irreversible scarring. Sectors like cement, mining, stone, ceramics, glass, and foundries must keep respirable silica out of the air at the source—making the choice of separation technology pivotal for both safety and compliance. Sifters vs. Screening: The separation and energy trade‑offs Many lines still use sifters (air classifiers) to separate quartz‑bearing fines. While they are often cheaper to purchase, two operational drawbacks matter in silica‑sensitive applications: - Lower separation sharpness: Cut curves can broaden under variable load or moisture, allowing fine quartz to bypass into the coarse fraction or escape with process air—raising exposure risk and affecting product quality. -

Sifting is not simply sifting
Who thinks that sifting always works the same way is sorely mistaken. The right sifiting technology is crucial for quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Plansifters the universal sifting solutions Anyone who thinks that sifting simply works the same way is sorely mistaken. Depending on the requirements, product and objective, different types of sifting machines are used in industry – each with its own strengths and special features. Whether in the food, pharmaceutical, plastics or chemical industry: choosing the right sifting technology is crucial for quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness. 1) Vibratory sifters – the classic choice These are mostly used for simple applications such as control sifting, also known as safety sifting. In this process, foreign particles are separated from the ‘good’ product. In applications where oversized particles are to be sifted out, the term control sifting is not used, but the process is simply the same. In many cases, vibratory sifters are also used here. They can also be used for dedusting bulk materials. The fine particles are sifted out. Compared to other sifting

The use of GKM screening machines within PET recycling
In the recycling process of PET bottles, a GKM vibration screening machine is used to clean the washing water of the PET flakes. A GKM tumbler screening machine is used for fractionating and dedusting the finished PET flakes. Raw materials from recycling The recycling of materials is becoming increasingly important due to the scarcity of raw materials and for the sake of environmental protection. This also includes recycling of PET. In recycling, waste products reintroduced a new production cycle, respectively, base materials become secondary raw materials. The materials produced in this way are referred to as recyclate or regenerate materials (source: Wikipedia). From 2025 on, non-refillable PET beverage bottles in the EU member states (regulation (EU) 2019/904) must contain at least 25% recycled plastic, so-called recyclate. Recycling of PET bottles In the recycling process of used for PET bottles, depending on the procedure, the labels and caps are sometimes removed in advance after that the bottles are sorted by color and then shredded. The next step is usually the washing of the crushed mass, afterwards dried and freed from final impurities. For this recycling process of PET bottles,

High precision, high throughput at screening of sugar Sugar is among the most demanding screening materials. The RHEsono vibration screening machine by RHEWUM precisely separates sugar at high throughputs
High precision, high throughput at screening of sugar
Sugar is among the most demanding screening materials. The RHEsono vibration screening machine by RHEWUM precisely separates sugar at high throughputs Sugar is among the most demanding screening materials. It draws moisture, tends to agglomerate and has abrasive properties. To achieve maximum precision in separation under these conditions, vibration screening machines with direct excitation of the screening mesh are a good choice. The RHEsono vibration screening machine utilizes magnetic vibrating heads to transfer motion impulses directly to the screening mesh. The impulse can be precisely adjusted to the properties of sugar. The screening mesh begins to vibrate, the sugar is deimpacted at a high frequency, agglomeration is reduced. To counter any clogging that might nevertheless occur, the RHEsono has an additional cleaning pulse which clears the screening mesh at regular intervals. This neither interrupts the screening process, nor does the pulse negatively affect separation precision. This technology allows the RHEsono to achieve highest precision in separation at high throughputs, in this case more than

Increased soda production with modern screening machines from RHEWUM
Sodium carbonate is difficult to screen as its hydrophilic properties cause agglomerations. RHEWUM’s high quality sieving technology increases production. Soda ash is obtained from sustainable production sources, such as the processing of wood. Soda ash is an indispensable raw material in partticular for the glass industry, but also used as a bleaching agent in the chemical industry and not least in the lye of Bavarian pretzels. The demand for high-quality soda ash is high. The quality of the soda granulate is significantly influenced by the performance, and thus the quality, of the screening machine in use. Soda ash is considered to be a difficult material to sieve, which easily sticks to the screening mesh and tends to form lumps due to its hydrophilic properties. The screening mesh can quickly become clogged and the entire production come to a standstill. Thus, the reliable supply of soda ash for important industrial sectors, and with it the capacity of soda ash producing plants, depends on the screening machine. With the RHEWUM WA, RHEWUM offers a state-of-the-art screening machine with direct excitation of the
