They have a very high level of precision in both conductive and non-conductive media. One of the largest energy supply companies in the UK was looking for modern equipment for its northern dam with flexible metering technology. The electricity and natural gas supplier for local households and businesses has been focusing on hydropower generation for several years, in addition to wind power. The centrepiece of the dam’s hydropower plant is the installed wood chip system, which was recently implemented to curb pollution in the dam. Accumulated wood chips are transported to a designated storage area via a series of chain conveyors. These chain conveyors need to be monitored with modern and robust measurement technology. For example, in sediment containers or basins, filters or lamella separators in the metal industry, chemical plants, lime or gravel works and the waste water industry. The measuring accuracy and durability of the sensor technology is important. Dirt, chemicals and gases often affect the sensors and require special resistance. The NivoBob® series NB 3300/3400 meet the requirements of many interface measurements and are very reliable due to the simple measuring principle. To produce natural rosemary extract in Slovenia a continuous content measurement for several tanks was installed. These work with the capacitive measuring principle, which is becoming increasingly popular, and have been configured for special process connections. Compensation for the materials caking to the sensor was crucial for the reliable determination of rosemary acetone. - Capacitive sensors for the Ex area - ATEX Zone 0 A producer of natural rosemary extracts was looking for a reliable solution for continuous level measurement in five stationary tanks of different volumes. The measuring range is up to 2.2 meters (72.18 ft). There is condensate in the atmosphere. All tanks are located inside the production building with process temperatures up to 80°C (176°F). The medium to be measured in the tanks is acetone with a 3% share of melted rosemary. Together with UWT Partner Sensor d.o.o. after some on-site tests, the capacitive level sensor NivoCapa® 8000 was implemented for the content notification.
