Spiral jetmills enable ultra-fine products with dry processing. The Spiral Type Jetmill of PMT-Jetmill is specialized in optimizing air streams to improve efficiencies and to minimize energy consumption. One application example is Zeolite. The material is fed pneumatically to the spiral jetmill and runs spirally through the milling chamber. Grinding media enters the area through the milling nozzles. Grinding media is either compressed air (3.5 to 15 bar and 240°C) or superheated steam (up to 24 bar and 400°C). The air stream fluidizes the material-bed and lifts as much particles as possible into the stream. Comminution is mainly based on shearing forces which result from velocity differences. The integrated dynamic classifier is capable to run at a maximum circumferential speed of 190 m/s. As soon as the particles reach a certain fineness, they can pass the classifier to the final product. The fineness can be easily adjusted by variation of the classifier speed. For the production of rechargeable batteries cathode material, typically fine lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) powders are utilized. For a global chemical company Gericke delivered multiple pneumatic conveying systems to unload the powders from IBC and to convey to further production processes placed up to 50m away from the unloading point. Abrasive powders NMC powder usually has a high bulk density larger than 1.5 kg/l and are considered abrasive. Due to the abrasive character a low velocity dense phase conveying system was chosen against a lean phase conveying system to minimise wear effects in the conveying line. Hydronix digital sensors are now proven to give highly accurate and reliable results allowing rice processors the ability to more accurately control their process. Around 50% of the worlds’ paddy rice production is parboiled. This is a process during rice production in which the paddy (raw) rice is steamed in the husk and then dried. This hardens the individual grains making them easier to handle and reduces the amount of broken kernels during milling. Other benefits include an increased product storage life, an increased nutritional value and sterilisation of the grain. The need to measure moisture There are three basic steps to the parboiling process. While in the paddy form, the rice is soaked to achieve an optimum moisture level typically around 30%. The rice is then heat treated by steaming or boiling which gelatinizes the starch within the kernel. This part of the process increases the moisture content of the rice grains to around 38% Finally the rice is dried to a moisture level of 12-14% where it can then be stored or moved through to a milling process. The new non-contact radar series for continuous level measurement has been equipped with the high-frequency 80 GHz FMCW technology and a very narrow beam angle. The internationally certified radar sensors detect with high measurement accuracy and short reaction times, without blocking distances in the upper part. The new JEL Konti II CTM vibrating screen is suitable for almost all common screening tasks that have to be carried out under containment conditions. Also the change of the screen insert works without breakage of the containment. Products with a high hazard potential, such as highly active ingredients or toxic chemicals, can often only be processed under containment conditions. And protective screening, oversize and fine particle separation or classifying screening are also common practice for these products. In screening processes, the containment or the plant environment are always at risk when the machine has to be opened - as when changing the screen feeder. To enable screening processes beyond isolators and full protective suits to be carried out more economically, more simply and still safely under containment conditions, Engelsmann has developed a new containment screen in which the screen feeder can be changed without breakage of the containment and in just a few steps. Frozen apple slices defrosted, then mixed with cinnamon and sugar in a jacketed paddle ribbon blender from American Process Systems. We serve various industries and customers ask us to perform all sorts of application trials in our test lab. Fertilizers, concrete, lithium-ion batteries, detergents, spices, coffee, protein powders - you name it. Recently we had a sweet application in our lab: frozen apple slices were defrosted, then mixed with cinnamon and sugar in our 11 ft3 jacketed paddle ribbon blender to make a tasty apple pie filling. Yum. The customer was very pleased with the test results.

Screw heat exchangers from Klinkenberg Zaanstad are a very energy-efficient solution in comparison with the usual cooling and heating methods. Vortex will demonstrate the Pivoting Chute Diverter at Powtech 2022, Hall 4, Stand 108, 27-29 September, in Nürnberg, Germany. Vortex developed the gravity-flow Pivoting Chute Diverter (PCD) for abrasive materials such as industrial sand, limestone, coal, gypsum, clinker, gravel, bauxite and minerals. The diverter body houses an internal chute that pivots to direct the material flow. The main advantage of the PCD is that there are no internal seals to maintain. The chute addresses material abrasion and can be constructed of, or lined, with wear resistant materials (e.g. chromium carbide, abrasion-resistant steel, or ceramic). Inspection, maintenance, or repairs to the diverter may be performed from the front access panel – without removing the diverter from service. The range of magnetic filters that Goudsmit Magnetics has been manufacturing for several years has recently been expanded with a modular, double-wall chocolate filter. The magnetic filter produced according to EHEDG guidelines is composed of Neodymium magnets that ensure effective separation of very small iron particles from 30μm, weakly magnetic particles and even iron dust from sticky substances such as chocolate. The hygienic filter can be seen on the Powtech in Nuremberg, position 3-634. In the new design, the housing is not welded but made of one piece -RVS 316-. The new design prevents the heated liquid, e.g. water, from entering the product channel. This water flows through the outer wall of the filter and keeps the chocolate liquid.
