Sinfimasa designed three chain conveyors for the transport of SRF. Sectorization of two fire zones was important, so one of the conveyors was equipped with firewall slide gates. Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) is a fuel prepared from non-hazardous waste, and used for energy recovery in incineration and co-incineration plants. It consists of small fractions of waste with a high calorific value. This makes it also suitable for use in cement kiln installations. Our client is a non-hazardous waste valorisation plant, and needed to build a conveying line to deliver different types of SRF into storage boxes after shredding, separation and classification process. The required output was 150 m3/h. Transport in 3 steps To solve this need, Sinfimasa designed three chain conveyors; the first one would transport the SRF at a horizontal distance of about 10m and would elevate it to a height of 8m. The second conveyor is positioned horizontally over a distance of 4,7 m. The following picture shows the fire triangle and the explosion pentagon which must be taken into account. The following conditions must exist for an explosion to occur within a production facility or machine. If any one of the aforementioned prerequisites is eliminated, explosion prevention has intrinsically been practised. However, if this is not possible at all times and in all operating states, explosion hazards will still be present. When processing anthracite coal into briquettes the moisture range is crucial for the product quality. To save time and costs, the moisture measurement process needed to be automized. Our customer is a leading manufacturer of process carbons. More than 70,000 tonnes of dry coke, anthracite, blown coal and alloying coal are produced each year for the iron, steel and electrode industries throughout Europe, as well as for other areas of application. Anthracite coal is of particularly high quality. At the beginning of the processing process, the material is in powder form, which is then processed into briquettes. In order for it to be formed into a briquette, it needs a special moisture range. If the powder is too wet, it sticks to the mould. If it is too dry, on the other hand, a briquette cannot be formed at all. To obtain the right moisture range, the moist anthracite is mixed with dry starch. The plant operator takes a sample of the material every 15 minutes to check. In order to automate and optimise this manual sampling, the customer was now looking for a measuring solution. Spiral jetmills enable ultra-fine products with dry processing. The Spiral Type Jetmill of PMT-Jetmill is specialized in optimizing air streams to improve efficiencies and to minimize energy consumption. One application example is Wollastonite. The material is fed pneumatically to the spiral jetmill and runs spirally through the milling chamber. Grinding media enters the area through the milling nozzles. Grinding media is either compressed air (3.5 to 15 bar and 240°C) or superheated steam (up to 24 bar and 400°C). The air stream fluidizes the material-bed and lifts as much particles as possible into the stream. Comminution is mainly based on shearing forces which result from velocity differences. The integrated dynamic classifier is capable to run at a maximum circumferential speed of 190 m/s. As soon as the particles reach a certain fineness, they can pass the classifier to the final product. The fineness can be easily adjusted by variation of the classifier speed.
