LAS 5000XD - In-Situ Laser Gas Analyzer

ENVEA presents the new LAS 5000XD in-situ laser (TDLS) gas analyzer

The LAS 5000XD cross-duct laser gas analyzer offers fast response time, robustness and is calibration free. for measuring an extensive range of parameters such as NH3 + H2O, HF, CO + CO2, O2, HCl + H2O, CO2 + H2O, etc.
The new TDLS (Tunable Diode Laser Spectroscopy) LAS 5000XD gas analyzer comes in various models for measuring an extensive range of parameters such as NH3 + H2O, HF, CO + CO2, O2, HCl + H2O, CO2 + H2O, etc.

It has been designed to offer robustness, fast response time (1 s) and high accuracy measurement in harsh environments. The analyzer is calibration free, doesn’t require a sampling system and provides a large and dynamic measurement range from ppm to %. It offers real-time communication between receiver and transmitter units and an embedded web server.

In addition, the LAS 5000 XD includes a specific feature for managing outside path interference. Indeed, thanks to ClearPath, interference of relative humidity, O2 or CO2 is removed from the purging areas. This guarantees high accuracy measurement of H2O, O2 and CO2. As a consequence, N2 and dry air purge are not needed. Operator’s benefits include low maintenance, process optimization and reduced total cost of ownership.

The instrument is adapted to a wide range of applications for CEMS and process, such as:
  • Ammonia slip control (DeNOx)
  • Combustion control
  • HF emission control in aluminum plant
  • HCL abatement control
  • Ethylene cracking furnace control
  • HCl level in semiconductor production
  • Ammonia concentration control in pet food and fertilizer plants, etc.

Examples of measuring ranges:

  • NH3 + H2O: 0–10 ppm / 0–5000 ppm + 0–5 % / 0–40 %
  • HF: 0-3 ppm / 0–500 ppm
  • CO + H2O: 0-50 ppm / 0-1% + 0-5 % / 0-40 %

The LAS 5000XD features a full package of optional accessories ensuring a smooth and efficient operation (Thermal Shield, weather protection covers, etc.).

Automated moisture measurement of anthracite coal
When processing anthracite coal into briquettes the moisture range is crucial for the product quality. To save time and costs, the moisture measurement process needed to be automized. Our customer is a leading manufacturer of process carbons. More than 70,000 tonnes of dry coke, anthracite, blown coal and alloying coal are produced each year for the iron, steel and electrode industries throughout Europe, as well as for other areas of application. Anthracite coal is of particularly high quality. At the beginning of the processing process, the material is in powder form, which is then processed into briquettes. In order for it to be formed into a briquette, it needs a special moisture range. If the powder is too wet, it sticks to the mould. If it is too dry, on the other hand, a briquette cannot be formed at all. To obtain the right moisture range, the moist anthracite is mixed with dry starch. The plant operator takes a sample of the material every 15 minutes to check. In order to automate and optimise this manual sampling, the customer was now looking for a measuring solution. Improving spray painting stations with powder flow monitoring
One of our customers identified a non-conformity in their painting process. With powder flow monitoring this problem was solved. APPLICATION Powder spray lines are an essential component in the automotive painting process. Spray lines are automatically activated in certain time sequences. One of our customers identified a non-conformity in their painting process. During each run, they found that some car parts were not evenly covered after painting. To combat this problem and to ensure sufficient material was applied, they had to increase spraying time. After multiple runs, unnecessary material was often applied, leading to higher production cost. In addition, there was no online process information, the only measuring data was the weight difference after each paint run. PROCESS DATA * Customer: Car parts manufacturer * Material: Pulverised pigments * Installation: Non-metallic hose * Function: Monitor powder flow SOLUTION The FlowJam T was acquired to monitor nine spray painting stations. With its compact design, and simple adjustment method, it’s been specially developed

ENVEA presents a new continuous indoor air quality monitor sensor for dust exposure. The AirSafe PM is a new measuring instrument to monitor particulate matter exposure such as PM1, PM2.5, PM4.25, PM10 and TSP in indoor ambient air. The AirSafe PM is a new measuring instrument to monitor particulate matter exposure such as PM1, PM2.5, PM4.25, PM10 and TSP in indoor ambient air. The AirSafe PM is used to monitor safety levels of air quality for personnel as well as to optimize process and dust control systems. The measured data can also be used by health and safety departments to be proactive in reducing PM concentration and exposure. Using a high-end optical system, the AirSafe PM monitors the air flowing through the device, counting particles and defining their sizes. The measured data is treated by a combination of processor-based platform and a unique algorithm. Different particle sizes are measured and classified as PM particles or A or E dust fractions. The AirSafe PM housing is made of ABS and aluminum, ensuring the sensor robustness for industrial applications. The sensor has a digital output that alarms when the set limit value is exceeded. As the sensor is designed to be used in

PVC dust monitoring for early warning of hazardous dust concentrations
With AirSafe 2 sensors ENVEA has realised continuous dust monitoring to give early warning of potentially hazardous dust concentrations in packaging areas. At a PVC powder manufacturing site, robots are used in the packaging plant to fill 25 kg bags. The company’s ATEX guidelines state that there is an ATEX Zone 22 in the area of 5 metres around the plant. The ignitable mixture of PVC powder is 50 g/m3, which can happen if a bag does not withstand the pressure and breaks when being filled by a robot. However, by the time the system recognises this and internally switches off the filling, several kilos of material have often escaped into the ambient air, resulting in a potentially explosive atmosphere [> 50 g/m3]. Process data * Customer: Manufacturer of PVC powder * Material: PVC powder * Installation: In the packaging plant * Function: Dust monitoring to give early warning of potentially hazardous dust concentrations Solution In the application described, two AirSafe 2 sensors were used for continuous monitoring of the ambient air. In this case, a unit suitable for use in ATEX Zone 22 was used. The two

Mass flow measurement for exact dosing for flue gas desulphurization Optimization of the lime hydrate-water dosing
Mass flow measurement for exact dosing for flue gas desulphurization
Optimization of the lime hydrate-water dosing In a waste incineration plant, hydrated lime is used in the dry sorption process for flue gas desulphurization (SO2 binding). The amount of hydrated lime is to be measured and water is to be added to bind the SO2. Since the throughput had not been measured so far and thus the incorrect amount of water added, the lime-water mixture in the collection tank clumped together. As a result, the tank had to be opened regularly to carry out the laborious process of removing the clumped material, resulting in downtimes. Process data - Customer: Incineration plant (Germany) - Material: Hydrated lime - Installation: Insulated free fall shaft downstream of a screw conveyor - Function: Optimization of the lime hydrate-water dosing Solution The SolidFlow 2.0 with extended sensor shaft (insulation) is used to measure and monitor the amount of hydrated lime actually pumped. The sensor continuously measures solids of up to 20 t/h in free fall or pneumatic conveying. In the
