ETI selected Royal Dahlman in an open tender process, in which the world’s most advanced and innovative gasification technologies competed for a partially funded design and project development phase. ETI will select the winning design after 10 months, resulting in the realization of the plant. ETI selected the three most interesting technology proposals based upon: • Full integration of waste segregation, gasification, gas clean up and power generation. • Typical UK waste as fuel. • Technology that is commercially viable at 5 to 20 MWe scale. • Robust operability. • An overall net electric efficiency >25% . The plant design is based upon MILENA gasification and OLGA gas cleaning (tar removal) technology. Both are patented inventions of ECN, further developed in close cooperation with Royal Dahlman. SMC has developed a ‘fitting’ solution for a textile industry customer, thanks to its new air amplifier, that is small in size but has delivered big benefits by reducing energy consumption by a fifth. The ZH20-X185 air amplifier, from SMC’s Energy Saving and Vacuum range, uses compressed air technology for suction and blowing and it has proved to be an effective and cost efficient alternative to traditional electric hoovers and fans. Ideal for processes requiring the removal or suction of small particles or gases, the ZH20-X185 has been certified as the best solution and an alternative to electric hoovers. In this instance, SMC’s customer needed to suction the fabric leftovers when operating an ultrasonic fabric cutting machine. The hoover not only used 3.75 Kw of electricity but also proved to be a bulky and noisy solution that required a great deal of maintenance due to its moving parts. KSE receives order via Ottevanger Milling Engineers for a considerable expansion of the bulk outloading at Aveve Veevoeding Aalter, Belgium. The expansion realizes flexibility and a more efficient throughput of the existing bulk outloading. Less waiting time for trucks, faster loading of trucks, more efficient use of stocks, less logistic handling, these are all reasons for Aveve to ask Ottevanger to expand their bulk outloading. To realize this order, Ottevanger includes systems of KSE Process Technology. From silos, finished product is transported via five movable ALFRA bulk weighers. They deliver it to seven movable ALFRA Bulk Batch Transports (BBT). The BBT’s deliver the finished product to counter bins which load the trucks. A paddle mixer is also supplied by Ottevanger. High Power Magnetic Proximity Sensor Non-contacting extended range magnetic proximity sensor, not affected by dust or material build up, used to detect moving ferrous material up to 75mm away from the sensor. The WDA sensor is designed for use with bucket elevators to detect the buckets in order to measure speed and alignment. It can also detect screw conveyor flights, and ferrous bolts when attached to non-ferrous buckets. A more specialized use of the WDA sensor is for broken/slack chain detection. The sensor is used in conjunction with a PLC or with 4B’s Watchdog™ Elite or A400 Elite control units. Looking for Pioneers! Utange Project Ursula Stein from Betzigau, Board Member of the voluntary organsiation Utange, supports children in Kenia. With the slogan “Looking for Pioneers” Frau Stein’s aim was to inspire local companies to support her new project in Kenia to finance a pre-school and a small primary school on a piece of land which was given to them by a pastor. As Uwe Niekrawietz, managing director of UWT and his wife are already „godparents“of three children in Kenia - organized through the Utange project (two children sponsored privately and one through the company) they could not say „No“ to this appeal. On the picture you can see Uwe and Petra Niekrawietz handing over a cheque for 2.000.- Euro to Mrs Stein to financially support her new and exciting project. We wish Mrs Stein great success with her project!
