Looking back on a very successful International Trade Fair POWTECH is the world’s undisputed number one for powder, granule and bulk solids technologies. It reflects the current state of the art in mechanical processing technologies and instrumentation. A top-grade supporting programme rounds off the exhibition concept. 15.498 Visitors and 704 exhibitors from 73 countries attended this important trade fair in 2013. For UWT this is one of the most important trade fairs and UWT was proud to present their latest products and developments regarding level control. New in their portfolio - UWT introduced the Siemens non-touch Radar LR560 and its diverse applications. UWT was chosen by Siemens as the first Solution Partner in Bavaria for the new Radar unit LR560 due to their long establishment and extensive experience within the bulk solids industry. For the extraction of fumes & gases in the Chemicals Industry With the Master-PE L-EL, Masterflex previously extended its already impressive all-round range with this profile-extruded suction & transport hose made from polyethylene offering an outstanding level of chemical resistance. Now, the product range has been extended even further - this time in the form of an extremely lightweight film hose, which boasts the same excellent chemical resistance and therefore perfect for applications in the chemicals industry. The brand new Master-PE L-F EL is made from electro-conductive polyethylene and is especially suitable for the suction/extraction of chemicals fumes and gases. The PE material offers a much greater chemical resistance in comparison to other hoses made from PU and PVC. A large number of standard materials are quickly deemed unsuitable for the suction and extraction of aggressive solvents, alkaline solutions and fumes. This year, the SOLIDS and M+R trade shows were held simultaneously at Antwerp expo. For both events, with a total of 240 exhibitors, this first co-located event proved highly successful. SOLIDS welcomed 1,740 visitors. M+R Antwerpen was attended by 1,370 visitors. Comprehensive conference programme: Market studies were carried out for both events to allow the programme to focus on the sector’s needs and requirements. The need for more information on occupational safety and prevention was considered the top priority both in Belgium and the Netherlands. Other themes high on the agenda of these professionals were process efficiency, sustainability, maintenance and cost savings. This was amply illustrated by the large turnout at the Atex Forum and the Process Engineering Conference during SOLIDS 2013. The themes at M+R Antwerpen were also subjected to a market analysis. MOLLET belongs to the top three of innovative enterprises in the category instrumentation The editorial teams of PROCESS and its sister journals PharmaTEC und Schüttgut were called upon to select the most interesting new products of the companies showing their products at the Powtech/Technopharm 2013 in Nuremberg. After a hard and professional selection process MOLLET received with the MOLOScode-system a place in the top-three list in the in the category instrumentation and automation. With this system confusion at coupling stations of flexible and rigid pipelines belongs to the past. With this technology each pipeline gets its own name. At the pipeline interfaces electronically coded coupling systems with RFID technology are used that give the process control the information which hose is connected to which pipe. Thus significantly increases the production safety and reduces the accident risk.

Screen panels allow the efficient separation of bulk materials The efficient separation of bulk materials is a basic requirement for a high-quality product. Screen panels from Schenck Process ensure that aggregates and material from the steel industry are correctly graded. The four professional journals Process, Process Worldwide, PharmaTec and Schüttgut (Bulk Solids Handling) handed out the Innovation Awards for 2013 during the POWTECH trade fair. They were looking for the most innovative equipment and methods in mechanical process technology in six different categories. The criteria for the award were the degree of innovation, the quality and profitability for users, the existing applications as well as the presentation of the product. The specialist jury awarded the winners at the official awards ceremony on the first evening of the fair. VEGA Grieshaber applied for the Innovation Award in the category `Process Measurement and Control Technology / Automation” with the new VEGAFLEX 82 guided radar sensor and won.
