LUM GmbH was founded in 1994 by the Managing Director Prof. Dr. Dietmar Lerche as innovative development, production and service corporation. The headquarters are located in Berlin, Germany. The company has an office and application laboratory in France and three subsidiaries: LUM Corporation, USA, LUM (Changzhou) Instruments Co. Ltd, China, and LUM Japan Co., Ltd.
LUM GmbH consists of a highly qualified, multidisciplinary team of scientists, technicians and engineers.
Scientific and measurement-technology expertise has been obtained for decades in:

•Analysis of suspensions and emulsions, including stability evaluation
•Determination of adhesive and bonding and strengths
•Quality assurance and process optimization.

Experience modern methods of particle and dispersion analysis and materials testing for yourself Exclusive additional courses at ICDAMT 2024 On June 10th and 11th, 2024, LUM GmbH will host the next International Conference on Dispersion Analysis and Materials Testing (ICDAMT 2024) in Berlin. Participants are exclusively invited to take additional practical training courses on June 12th at the LUM headquarters in Berlin-Adlershof and thus experience modern methods of particle and dispersion analysis and material testing for themselves. The training courses represent a further training measure for employees of certified companies (DIN ISO 9001 and other relevant standards). European experts from LUM GmbH, Berlin and LUM France each train a maximum of four course participants on the following topics in theory and practice: # Accelerated and real-time stability of formulations - testing methods & strategies, correlation # Comprehensive characterization of battery & energy storage materials # Determination of droplet size, particle size distribution & particle properties # Relative sedimentation time for Hansen Parameters (HSP/HDP) # Analytical centrifugal filtration. Shortcourse Analytical Centrifugal Filtration
To achieve the best filterability for a special application, a filter material with tailor-made structure has to be developed. For the design and dimensioning of filtration processes, a new possibility for filtration experiments is to perform the filtration experiments by means of analytical photo-centrifugation filtration (ACF). It allows a simple & fast membrane characterization and filterability with suspensions of about 1 ml. A special developed filtration cell holds the suspension that has to be filtered, the filter media and as well as the resulting filtrate. By adjusting the instrument parameter by applying different rotor speeds (influencing the applied pressure) at different time stages or temperature profiles during one experimental run makes the design very flexible. Shortcourse Relative sedimentation time for Hansen Parameters (HSP/HDP)
In Liquid phase exfoliation, HSP has been widely accepted for its role in solvent selection, where a close match between the HSP values of 2D materials and the solvent is believed to lead to superior exfoliation. We are looking forward to meeting Priyabrata Sahoo from India with this topic during the International Conference for Dispersion Analysis and Materials Testing from 10-11 June 2024. HSPs can provide understanding into integral factors in the meticulous design of electrodes, electrolytes, and other pivotal components inherent to electrochemical systems. Amid Said Amin from Germany will teach us more during the conference. We are keen on learning more. Prof. Dr. Dr. Lerche, Chairman of the Scientific Committee and LUM Managing Director: “Since 2014, we have been advertising the Young Scientist Award (YSA) for outstanding scientific achievements in the areas of particle and dispersion characterization as well as materials testing and awarding it at the conference according to defined quality criteria. Young scientists from Germany, France, India, Norway and the Czech Republic answered the call and applied for the prize. Three finalists from Europe and India were ultimately nominated by the jury for 2024. They are expected to attend the conference with their interesting results upon invitation. Analytical centrifugation is also an important tool in quantum dot research Moungi G. Bawendi, Louis E. Brus and Alexei I. Ekimov are awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2023 for the discovery and development of quantum dots. These tiny particles have unique properties and now spread their light from television screens and LED lamps.
