Safe and uniform discharge of bulk solids EBRO ARMATUREN Gebr. Bröer GmbH (Hagen, Germany) will firstly present their modified impeller valve FS-M, during the POWTECH 2011 exhibition in Nuremberg. Rotating impeller valves aer used in bulk solid processes in order to ensure a uniform discharge of materials, e.g. from silos, bunkers or from weighing containers. Due to the frequency-controlled rotational speed the impeller valves can also be used as a dosing unit, working volumetrically and preventing overfilling of downstream processes effectively. Screw or oscillating conveyors can therefore be uniformly fed, without clogging. For quick floating materials, a pair of blades interrups the material flow in short consecutive intervals, hence allowing a safe and effective discharge of the material. The deploying of the impeller valves into pneumatic feed pipes homogenies and aerates the product flow. VDL Industrial Products, based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, has been manufacturing rotary valves since 1969. The VDL cast iron rotary valves are being used in dust collection, as airlocks under dust filters and cyclones. As dosing unit the rotary valves have been used successfully in powder- and granulate processes. The well known Dutch rotary valve manufacturer responds to the needs of industry to expands their product line with two high capacity rotary valves; named the HT 450 & HT 550 (a capacity of up to 100 m3/h!). Laarmanns new, modular jaw crusher system At the fair POWTECH Laarmann will introduce his new modular jaw crusher concept. The first model, the LMC400, is already in production. An important issue is that the machine is prepared to expand it with a hydraulic security system to provide damage of unbreakable material. The feed size of this jaw crusher is 400 mm, but is relative easy to change at custom wishes. Especially for expensive plates (as Tungsten Carbide) is this a very important asset.

When cleaning & repairing tanks, some critical points come forward, for example at the works on top of tank trucks or train wagons where the operator, standing on a round tank at a height of 3 meters, has to perform sometimes difficult movements. Despite a lot of operators go to work with caution, this remains a difficult working situation. The first lecture was given by John Tobin, from the Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority. Big isn`t always better. From Schenck Process there is now an ideal solution for feeding very small volumes of powder, and it`s called MechaTron® Min. This gravimetric feeder has a delivery rate between 100 g/h and 10 kg/h. Typical applications include laboratory and test facilities for feeding extruders, mixers, mills and granulators. The MechaTron® Min features a double shaft and vertical agitator. It is designed to allow quick dismantling for cleaning and replacement of the discharge devices.
