New integrated solution developed by ORTEC - R. Nagel is launching customer Having experienced significant growth in recent years, transport company R. Nagel BV is now looking to improve control of its planning processes by introducing planning systems developed by ORTEC. In the period ahead, R. Nagel will be implementing both the staff planning application HARMONY and the ORTEC-developed Transport & Distribution scheduling and routing system. ORTEC and R. Nagel B.V. are currently in the process of creating a standard link between the two planning systems that will, in the future, be available to other transport companies as well. R. Nagel is the first company to take advantage of this integrated solution. Time-efficient By linking the two systems, R. Nagel will be able to implement its staff planning, scheduling and routing processes using a single system. Data regarding staff availability will be forwarded directly to ORTEC Transport & Distribution, from where R. Nagel can assign staff (i.e. the drivers) to vehicles and materials. This

M. Bouw & Zonen Logistics Services BV has made the transition to the new version of ORTEC’s routing and scheduling solution, SHORTREC 7.3. The logistics service provider chose this system, because its scheduling became too complex to be performed manually. Henk Hop, who performs the scheduling activities with three colleagues, explained: “We have been using SHORTREC for some time now. First SHORTREC 7.2, and now version 7.3. However, the major difference is not the new system, but the change in our working methods.” Henk Hop: “When configuring SHORTREC 7.3, we deliberately decided to configure SHORTREC in such a manner that we could perform our scheduling activities automatically. When we purchased SHORTREC, we initially opted not to utilize this possibility. The system was configured in such a manner that scheduling at the push of a button could not provide us with what we needed. “You can’t escape it. Without this kind of tool, we can no longer perform our scheduling activities,” said Hans Meijerink. He works as an application manager at Amerongen Kamphuis BV, which is currently finishing its implementation of ORTEC’s Transport & Distribution (ORTEC TD) scheduling and routing system. “We are faced with an increase in the number of orders and many different shipments. We need ORTEC TD in order to keep track of this and respond to disruptions in real time.” Until recently, Amerongen Kamphuis used SHORTREC for scheduling and routing. “When we chose SHORTREC five years ago, we had different requirements from today. Our situation now is such that ORTEC TD is more suited to our requirements than SHORTREC.” With the introduction of ORTEC TD, Amerongen Kamphuis is also replacing the onboard computer systems with new ones. “After a comprehensive test phase, these will be linked to ORTEC TD.” More peace and quiet on the shop floor The
