Process Microwave Moisture Measuring Device MOIST T is a microwave based transmission sensor system for contactless moisture detection on floating and planar moving webs. Special fields of application for the sensor system are contactless moisture measurements of building materials, mineral fibrous insulating material and bulk goods. Moisture detection of grains and of agricultural materials can be special fields of application, too as well as the conceivable usage for the food industry. Customer specific calibrations and adaptions can be manufactured for new applications and materials. The microwave probe system is a smart measuring system with an on board microcontroller. It is used in combination with the control unit MOIST CONTROL 100. Transmitter and receiver of MOIST T are mounted with a special clamp and will be protected by a special dielectric cover. The MOIST T process sensor system provides a material specific moisture range from 0 to 50% (wet base) at a material thickness of 500 mm. It measures

A recent upgrade at the Obourg (Belgium) facility of Holcim, one of the world’s leading cement producers, has seen the production plant move to an automated laboratory for the routine analysis of cement composition and particle size. The system of choice for particle characterization was the Insitec ALISS from Malvern Instruments, which is now installed and is delivering routine process analysis with negligible manual input. The instrument was purchased by Holcim France Benelux1 as part of an agreement with Malvern to supply two Insitec ALISS systems for use at sites in Belgium and six Insitec on-line systems for facilities in France. At Holcim’s Obourg plant, all aspects of particle size measurement are fully automated. At the heart of the automated laboratory is a robot which receives both clinker and cement samples, prepares them for analysis and transports them to the appropriate analyzer. In 2004 VEGA Grieshaber introduced VEGAPULS 68, the first radar sensor specially developed for level measurement of bulk solids. With a measuring range up to 70 m and wide temperature and pressure ranges (200 °C and 40 bar), it represented a real novelty in level measurement of bulk solids and has since established itself very well on the market. To close the remaining gap of standard applications with smaller measuring ranges and lower process demands, an additional instrument version, VEGAPULS 67, will be introduced at POWTECH 2007. The new VEGAPULS 67 finds application in areas where, for reasons of economy, ultrasonic instruments or capacitive probes were used until now. A new, innovative antenna system of plastic makes it possible to offer VEGAPULS 67 at a considerably lower price. Small iron parts damage the rollers during the production process A problem in the domain of carbon black processing was a good reason for Goudsmit Magnetic Systems BV, which is established in Waalre, to develop a new design of the rotating clean-flow magnet. The leading company in the Netherlands in the field of carbon black processing wanted to separate the pearl-shaped carbon black stream from iron parts. The company outlined three problem situations which could not be solved by using a normal clean-flow magnet. The renewed design provided a solution. This design can be seen in the Powtech 2007 in Nürnberg (hall 9, booth 316). Situation Carbon black is a very dry product which is not flowing well and it is used in sealing and insulation materials as well as in car tires. Naturally iron parts in the seals are not wanted and must be removed. A few problems arise when using a normal clean-flow magnet. PTS technology Based on the PTS-Technology the Batchmixer (patent pending) was developed by Dec to mix active substances in a self-contained system. This system allows contamination free and product friendly mixing (no rotating mechanical parts) in batch mode under inert conditions. This offers the possibility to mix hygroscopic, oxygen sensitive or explosive powders. Various powders can be mixed with large differences in mixing ratio (1/10.000) at a low mixing time. A high ratio of no-load to full-load can be realized (High turn down ratio < 10% - 100%). The Batchmixer is practically maintenance free and can be cleaned in place (CIP). This technology is able to be integrated easily into all kinds of production lines, because powders are transferred, mixed and discharged in an automatic and closed way. Drum Containment System An innovative technology for emptying drums Dec developed the innovative DCS Inverter (patent pending), based on the DCS-Technology (Drum Containment System, patented). The DCS is the perfect solution for contamination free evacuation of drums of various sizes equipped with double inliners. It provides optimal protection of the operator and product at high containment-levels (<1g/m3). The DCS Inverter is the innovative development of the DCS system and offers a lot of advantages. Microwave-Level Guard MOIST xLEVEL is an intelligent microwave sensing head for level monitoring in process. Dust accumulation and work regulations concerning explosion safety and cleaning on the work floor often present a major challenge for companies. Last year a world player in the petrochemical industry was confronted with these issues, and started looking for a solution that could be implemented as a central vacuum cleaning system, as well as a pneumatic conveying system for the removal of residue from several storage facilities. J-TEC analyzed the problem and found the solution within its own standard production supply. The central vacuum cleaning unit was designed with J-TEC’s standard separator in mind. This separator was then equipped with all the required safety precautions, in accordance with Atex guidelines. The product to be conveyed has a minimum ignition energy of 1 millijoule. Beijings National and Olympic Stadium During construction, the crisscrossed interwoven steel roof construction of the bird’s nest roof was supported by 78 temporary steel columns. For additional stability, the huge ‘twigs’ were welded onto the supports. After completion of the bird’s nest construction the ‘twigs’ had to be cut off the support piers, before dismantling of the piers could start. Basically the disconnecting and dismantling process of the temporary supports comes down to synchronically and fully controlled lifting the structure of its supports, cutting the welds, followed by controlled and synchronized stage-lowering to allow the removal of the 50mm think leveling plates that were used during construction. POWTECH The patented ProClean Liner Filling Head (LBK) of Hecht Anlagenbau GmbH allows the contamination-free filling of any type of containers. The product outlet and a side hand-access opening are closed towards the environment by a protective liner. For connecting a container, a liner is fixed with a rubber ring and secured with a counter ring. The operator removes the contaminated protective liners and the rubber rings of the previous filling process by using a liner tube at the hand-access opening. Upon filling the container, the liner is closed and separated underneath the counter ring with the effect that both the filled sack and the filling head are sealed against the environment.
