Screening a necessity within waste management Rotex at Recycling & Waste Management in Birmingham
Screening a necessity within waste management
Rotex at Recycling & Waste Management in Birmingham Once the recycling and waste-handling boom started, the applications offered ROTEX the opportunities to adapt the equipment with little effort. Vibratory feeders whether of a fixed or variable speed were complimented by vibratory conveyors, all capable of handling large, volumetric and where necessary heavy products. In addition to the ability to feed and convey products, the ROTEX range of Direct Drive and gyratory motion screeners give the company a series of machines that can separate dry product by size, either simplistically or very accurately. In addition special screen decks have been developed with certain clients to enable specific products to be handled that would normally be extremely difficult to screen. Typical industries where success has been gained include rubber, glass, municipal waste, plastic, ferrous and non-ferrous. Rubber has been a strong success story for ROTEX and will continue to grow as the landfill costs become prohibitive for many companies.

With compressed air through thick and thin New sampling model in 2006
With compressed air through thick and thin
New sampling model in 2006 Bürkle GmbH, the specialist for manual sampling, will again introduce a particularly interesting new model at the Achema 2006 for the building materials, chemical, drugs and food industries. Previously bulk goods with a high density could only be sampled by applying great force while taking a long time. The pneumatic sledge hammer of the PowerSampler makes taking such samples child’s play, even from baked sample material at a depth of up to 2 m. It buries itself, just like a compressed air sledge hammer, deep in the sample. The sample continually flows through the patented chamber lock at the end of the sample chamber while it is being driven in. When the target has been reached the chamber closure seals the collection tube automati-cally. The collection lance can be removed from the pneumatic drive unit with a single action. The field of application for the PowerSampler is with cement and wet sand as well as flour, plastic granules or other loose bulk

SolidFlow: radar measuring system
SolidFlow: radar measuring system
The radar measuring system for measuring mass flows of solids in an absolutely easy way. Either in free fall or pneumatic transportation. The sensor is working according to the latest microwave technology. It is exclusively used in metallic pipes. A measuring field is produced by special linking of the microwave together with the pipe. The microwave energy is being back scattered by the solid particles and received by the sensor. These signals are evaluated in frequency and amplitude. The sensor works like a particle counter, which counts the quantity of the moving particles per time unit. Due to the selective frequency evaluation only moving particles are measured and deposits are suppressed. The calibration of the sensor will be made in the inserted condition, simply by pushing a button and entering of the reference quantity.

DensFlow
The measuring system for the continuous flow measurement for densephased-conveyed materials and high The measuring system for the continuous flow measurement for densephased-conveyed materials and high flow rates. In the measuring pipe a homogeneous measuring field is produced by special linking of a high frequency, electromagnetic alternating field. Solids, which are within this measuring field, absorb the energy of this alternating field. This leads to a measuring signal according to the concentration of the material to be conveyed in the measuring pipe (kg/m3). By means of the same sensor technology within the measuring tube on two further places the change of the alternating field is measured. These two sensors have a defined distance to eachother. The evaluation unit with its integrated correlator determines the time of the conveyed material between the two sensors. With the known distance the velocity of the solid is then determined (m/sec). From the two measured sizes concentration (K) and velocity (V) as well as the known cross section (A) of the

Magnet and metal detector remove all metal particles All-Metals-Catcher removes ferrous and non-ferrous particles from chemicals
Magnet and metal detector remove all metal particles
All-Metals-Catcher removes ferrous and non-ferrous particles from chemicals By combining both a magnet with a metal detector in a single system, Goudsmit Magnetic Systems of Waalre has recently made it possible to remove both ferrous and non-ferrous particles from flows of materials. This system, called the All-Metals-Catcher and removes ferrous particles from 25 microns and non-ferrous particles from 0.6mm from powered (bulk) goods, for example in the chemical industry. This type of magnet system is shown at the Achema exhibition in Frankfurt (Hall 4.2, Stand K20). The magnet has a strong magnetic force of 12,000 Gauss and checks materials for iron upon the commencement of production, or the end product just before it leaves the production hall. Thanks to its low overall height, it is possible to incorporate the magnet in an existing production process. This magnetic pre-sorting means that considerably less product is lost than with detection alone. 70% of metal pollution is often caused by iron and can be removed by magnets. The metal

Flow measurement in the pneumatic feed line. Measuring limestone powder in the VW - powerplant
Flow measurement in the pneumatic feed line.
Measuring limestone powder in the VW - powerplant In the VW Powerplant in Wolfsburg limestone powder is use for the fluegas desulfurization. The limestone powder is stored in silos and dosed via a rotary valve into the pneumatic feed line. The flow rate of the limestone powder was measured by an impact meter. Due to the moving parts and the fact, that the material sticks to the impact plate, this system requires continously maintenance. Looking for a safe and maintenance free measuring method, the microwave sensor "MIC" from Hense Wägetechnik was tested directly in the pneumatic feed line. The MIC sensor is simply clamped to the conveying pipe - the microwave field detects only moving particles. The electronic unit displays the actual flow ( kg/h ) and the total flow ( kg ). The calibration of the microwave system was first done in relation to the impact meter - later on the unit was calibrated in relation to the inventory of the storage silo. At the end of the test 4 ea MIC had been installed in the plant.
