Contamination-free Sieving with RETSCH test sieves
Contamination-free Sieving
with RETSCH test sieves For all particle size analyses where contamination of the sample with solder or epoxy must be avoided, RETSCH test sieves, which feature electro-welded mesh, are the products of choice. Thanks to the transition free one-piece construction of the sieve frame no foreign materials are involved in the process and there are no grooves where material might get caught. RETSCH test sieves are produced fully automatically, a process which is unique in the world. This allows for a previously unattained high quality and consistency of the sieves. In addition, a logistic manufacturing system makes it possible to record each and every material used in the process. RETSCH sieves comply with all prevalent international standards such as DIN ISO, ASTM and BS. The benefits at a glance: · Ultra-tight sieve fabric · Maximum corrosion resistance thanks to high-grade alloy steel (316L) · Autoclaveable o-rings for quiet operation and dust-tight sieve stack · 15

Working with Leonardo da Vinci at LUM Why young international graduates work in Adlershof
Working with Leonardo da Vinci at LUM
Why young international graduates work in Adlershof L.U.M. GmbH, Berlin, world-wide leading producer of analytical devices for direct and rapid stability analysis and particle characterization of dispersions offers traineeships within the European Leonardo da Vinci programme since 2002. The trainees are actively involved in the business processes of this company. “For the first time we have now 3 trainees at LUM in parallel, besides 15 full-time employees. It has begun with the successful cooperation with the University of Miskolc, Hungary, which is traditionally in the field of marketing “, states Prof. Lerche, Managing Director of L.U.M. GmbH. „Additionally this year, we have selected two further graduates from Spain and Portugal for our research and development“, continues Prof. Lerche. „We obtain important support from trainees in the non-producing processes. The decision for the Leonardo programme is regarded as part of our investment in the future of our company as well as in in the young people.“ Nelson

New course: `Effective emergency relief design: an introduction`
Date: Februar 8, 2006; Deventer (NL) Safety and the prevention of incidents are important aspects during the design and operation of chemical facilities. Apart from the legal obligations to reduce the chances and effects of incidents, there is an economic drive to maximize safety. Direct damage of process equipment may result in the loss of market share and a detoriation of corporate image. A first line of defence is to prevent accidents from happening. However, first line safety measures may fail and a second line of defence should be in place. This is especially the case when an increase in pressure may result in rupture of equipment with a subsequent release of hazardous materials. Emergency relief systems are very suitable in forming this second line of defence. Not only will a relief system prevent the excessive pressure, it will also prevent toxic and/or flammable chemicals from entering the environment. Smartloader - automatic bulkloading station
Smartloader - automatic bulkloading station
DCL is proud to announce its fully automatic, unattended bulk loading station for high speed filling of dry, dusty materials into enclosed vehicles. The Smartloader utilizes a patented system that scans the top of the vehicle. Anyopen hatch or series of open hatches are automatically located, measured and qualified. The multispeed positioner provides a fast scanning speed to minimize loading cycle times. A unique articulating positioning arm is used to move the loading spout within a designed loading area can cover a loading area up to 18,3 m (60 feet) by 1,8 m (6 feet) for center and side hatch railcars. A typical truck loading station would cover a loading area of 11 m (36 feet) by 610 mm (2 feet). Dual direction positioners can also be utilizedto keep costs down when semi truck trailers only are being loaded.

VMI also in reach for smaller stocks
Adopt-Fit, provider of telemetry systems for Supply Chain improvement recently developed a low cost 2-Channel telemetry station. Information collected via sensors will be stored in the telemetry station, one or more times a day the information will be collected by the Adopt-Fit data centre via a modem connection (PSTN / GSM / GPRS), based on the requirements. The collected information will be presented at a secure web page, access via username and password can be allowed for stock management, purchase department, haullier, and / or supplier customer service department. Integration with ERP systems is also possible. The system can send alert at certain levels e.q. re-order, minimum stock. Not having the need for investment in software or licences makes a single system already interesting. World wide Adopt-Fit systems are daily monitoring stocks of 1m³ till over 250m³.

Non-contact temperature measurements not influenced by flames and combustio
The pyrometer IPE 140/39 from IMPAC is a special version of the IPE 140 with a spectral range of 3.9 µm. It was designed for non-contact temperature measurements of metal parts in flame heated furnaces and covers temperature ranges between 20 and 1450°C. Like the basic IPE 140, the IPE 140/39 is a highly accurate and stabile digital pyrometer. The special spectral range avoids the influence of humidity and CO2 and enables a correct measurement through flames and combustion gases. Also humidity and CO2 do not have any influence on measurements with long measuring distances. Another application is the measurement of glass, if a small penetration into the glass is necessary (e.g. glass drop). Measurement errors caused by partially cooled down surfaces can be avoided. For optimal match of the instrument to the application 3 different focusable optics with extremely small spot sizes (0.7 mm minimum) are available.
