Amerongen Kamphuis BV takes the next step in its automation of scheduling a

“You can’t escape it. Without this kind of tool, we can no longer perform our scheduling activities,” said Hans Meijerink. He works as an application manager at Amerongen Kamphuis BV, which is currently finishing its implementation of ORTEC’s Transport & Distribution (ORTEC TD) scheduling and routing system. “We are faced with an increase in the number of orders and many different shipments. We need ORTEC TD in order to keep track of this and respond to disruptions in real time.”

Until recently, Amerongen Kamphuis used SHORTREC for scheduling and routing. “When we chose SHORTREC five years ago, we had different requirements from today. Our situation now is such that ORTEC TD is more suited to our requirements than SHORTREC.” With the introduction of ORTEC TD, Amerongen Kamphuis is also replacing the onboard computer systems with new ones. “After a comprehensive test phase, these will be linked to ORTEC TD.”

More peace and quiet on the shop floor

The application manager believes that this move will bring Amerongen Kamphuis BV considerable benefits. “The link to the onboard computers will enable us to find out where a vehicle is located more easily. As a result, we will create more peace and quiet on the shop floor; fewer telephone calls and less stress. At the same time, we will be able to inform customers sooner if a shipment will be early or late. Naturally, this will enable us to increase the level of our customer service.”
