Rombouts Food International, a frozen products dealer and manufacturer, wants to increase the efficiency of its operations through the short-term implementation of three ORTEC scheduling systems. Surinaamse Brouwerij NV, part of the Heineken NV brewery group, is going live with ORTEC’s SHORTREC journey and route scheduling system. Until recently, the brewery outsourced the scheduling of its distribution activities in Surinam to a local distribution company. In order to provide its customers with better service, Heineken has taken over the management of a major part of its production chain – from brewing and sales to the scheduling of the distribution. Opening of new depot ORTEC has worked out various supply scenarios for Heineken with the result being the opening of a new depot in the west of Surinam. Following a successful six-week pilot project with SHORTREC, Heineken is now going live with SHORTREC. Following this, Heineken still has more process improvements in mind. Sample Preparation for the analysis The last months showed that there is a specific need for the careful inspection and analysis of various toys. Especially the cases of toxic lead in paints. Lead is a toxic heavy metall. Approx. 90% of the incorporated lead is deposited in the bones and the teeth. Because lead is released very slowly, it will be accumulated over the time in the body. This is dangerous especially for children. The European Norm EN 71-3 regulates the limit of lead in toys. Furthermore the US norm ASTM F 963-07 regulates the concentration of lead in paints and coatings for toys (max. 600mg/kg). For the analyses, if toys fulfil these norms, the samples must be grind for example with FRITSCH cutting mills. For the pre-grinding we use the Universal Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 19 or the Power Cutting Mill PULVERISETTE 25. Eric Adams, who formerly worked in the area of mining, became Head Sales Manager for the Separation Technology business unit effective 1st October 2007. On the same date, Dr. Ulrich Kohaupt became head of the newly created department Business Unit Development. This new department was created to develop future market potential for today’s products and the products of tomorrow. Precise flow metering The C-Lever unique technique achieves a most excellent accuracy of +/- 0.25% of the volumetric range of nearly all flowing bulks and solids. Compared to conventional measuring systems, based on volume, speed or weight, the REMBE system measures the porduct flow line. The C-Lever II is made withour any mechanical moved parts (actuuators, pivot bearings, belts etc..). As a result there is no need for precalibration. Alle electronical components are mounted outside of the product flow. They are not influenced by humidity, vibration or dust. This system additionally offers an overload block. Severe changes of flow and/or pulsations caused by rotary valves or screw feeders do not influence the accuracy. The C-Lever is ideal for regulating screw feeders or truck loading systems.
