Next generation magnetic separators for food Height reduction and higher separation yield
Next generation magnetic separators for food
Height reduction and higher separation yield The Goudsmit Magnetics Group of Waalre (NL) introduces a new generation of magnetic separators. These are used to remove metal particles (>30 µm) from food like malt, rice, coffee, sugar, flour and cocoa. The Easy Clean flow magnet stands out from the competition due to its user friendly cleaning, improved flow and the high Gauss values of the bars. In contrast to previous designs, in which such magnets were fitted with two layers of thin (Ø25 mm) bars, the new design contains a single row of Ø50 mm thick bars. New measurement techniques, including simulations of magnetic fields and tests in the company’s own test centre, have shown that this results in a higher separation yield. This is because the thicker bars remain in contact with the magnetic particles longer. An additional benefit is the reduced height of the magnet as a whole, which means it requires less installation height. Moreover, a single row of bars results in improved product flow; which is particularly…

Safe blind lockout for the widest range of pipes
Safe blind lockout for the widest range of pipes
The pipe blind lockout device can be applied to the widest range of pipes to easily and temporarily lock pipe blinds in place. With the pipe blind lockout, users can avoid the release of gas, steam and hazardous liquids while pipe maintenance is still ongoing. Increased safety and compliance The Pipe Blind Lockout can provide a very visual, physical barrier that acts as a deterrent for touching pipe blinds while maintenance is ongoing. When used with a properly installed pipe blind, the lockout device and a padlock reduces the risk of accidental release of pipe contents. This enables companies to increase workplace safety and also improve compliance with EU Guidelines 89/655 and the European Norm 1037. Non-sparking material The Pipe Blind Lockout has been UL tested for ISO 80079-36:2016 Explosive Atmospheres and falls within the parameters of the norm. The device is built out of a heavy duty 304 stainless steel with rugged, cast aluminium locking…

High precision powder mixer with conical floor
High precision powder mixer with conical floor
The real innovation of the amixon® AM-type mixer does not only lie in the conical floor, but also in the patented SinConvex®-mixing tool. The design allows ideal mixture qualities to be achieved even from a filling level of just 5 percent. The upward screwing of the mixture takes place forcibly by means of the helical spring mixing tool, while the downward flow takes place naturally due to the effect of gravity. The changing of places within the particle system takes place at the interfaces in between. The flow effect takes place in the same way, independently of the filling level. All amixon® mixers bear superb hygiene characteristics: the machines can be used as sterile mixers in compliance with FDA regulations. They also fulfil EHEDG requirements and the 3a Sanitary Standards. amixon® ensures comfortable accessibility and a view inside the mixing chamber by means of its generously sized inspection doors. Hence, manual dry cleaning can be carried out quickly…

Schenck Process launches MULTIDOS® VDP-C apron weighfeeder
Schenck Process has announced the latest extension to its MULTIDOS® weighfeeder range. MULTIDOS® VDP-C is a new range of medium-sized and compact apron weighfeeders mainly suitable for raw material feeding, hot clinker feeding and similar applications. “MULTIDOS® VDP-C leverages the proven technical features and component reliability of the existing MULTIDOS® weigh- and apron feeder designs while addressing specific application scenarios. In particular, it offers a perfect solution wherever a regular rubber belt weighfeeder would otherwise be chosen but cannot be installed because of the physical, chemical and performance limits of a rubber belt,” according to Peter Groll, Managing Director Construction & Energy, Schenck Process EMEA. “Moreover, because we have taken a ‘designed straight for the job’ approach, the cost is significantly lower than competitor apron weighfeeders,” added Groll. With a completely enclosed design the MULTIDOS® VDP-C…

Magnet makes blasting grit suitable for reuse Magnetic drum separator
Magnet makes blasting grit suitable for reuse
Magnetic drum separator Goudsmit Magnetics recently introduced a magnetic drum separator for cleaning blasting grit. It separates contaminants, such as paint residue and rust, from magnetic blasting agent yet is also suitable for the separation of steel from non-steel blasting grit (such as ceramic material), which can then be used again. The blasting grit can become slightly magnetized during the separation and therefore block the blasting nozzle. To prevent this, a demagnetizer is used to remove the magnetism from the grit, thus preventing clumping of the blasting agent. After the grit has fallen through the demagnetization tunnel, it is sucked back through a hose to the blasting equipment where it can be used again. Use of a magnetic drum separator makes used grit suitable for reuse, extends its life and ensures that users do not blast clean surfaces with dirty grit. Magnetic drum separator The advantage of a magnetic drum separator is that the deferrization can take place in…
