Safe lockout for large gate valves
Safe lockout for large gate valves
Brady has developed a durable solution to safely lock out gate valves with diameters ranging from 3 up to 18 inch. The new Collapsible Gate Valve Lockout also features a tri-folding system to allow for easy storage. Save lives The Collapsible Gate Valve Lockout can block gate valves up to 18 inch to neutralise or secure the flow of energy or materials to machines. Every worker servicing a machine can apply a padlock to the lockout device to lock a gate valve in the off-position while maintenance is ongoing. This prevents other workers from inadvertently re-energising machinery which could lead to impactful workplace accidents. Collapsible Gate Valve Lockouts can also be used to secure the flow of water to firefighting systems for example. Easy and flexible to use The Collapsible Gate Valve Lockout can easily be rotated around a valve to lock it in the off- or on-position. The device’s tri-folding system makes it practical to store or carry, while still being…

High Pressure Valve Provides Solution for Chemical Company Vortex HDPV2 replaces existing butterfly valve
High Pressure Valve Provides Solution for Chemical Company
Vortex HDPV2 replaces existing butterfly valve BASF is an integrated global chemical company. Their site in Redditch, UK, specializes in the production of flooring systems including concrete repair, structural waterproofing, traffic repair, car park decks, roofing waterproofing and structural grouts. The manufacturing process includes bulk storage, batch weighing and pneumatic transfer of a large variety of ingredients (typically sands cements, lime and coarse aggregates) to a large vacuum receiving hopper. From here materials are discharged to a mixer then discharged to a high speed packing process. BASF had experienced problems with the existing butterfly valve on the outlet of their vacuum batch receiving hopper. Some of the coarse materials, typically quartz and flintag, are very abrasive with sharp jagged edges and have a high bulk density. The butterfly valve blade was unable to open against a head load of high density compacted material. BASF identified the Vortex HDPV2 slide gate valve as ideal solution…

Level measurement below loads weighing tones with MOLOSroto MOLOSroto level switches from MOLLET with reinforced shaft
Level measurement below loads weighing tones with MOLOSroto
MOLOSroto level switches from MOLLET with reinforced shaft Level measurement in bulk solids is always a substantial challenge for the operators of processing facilities. Especially the empty detection in large silos and containers filled with heavy bulk solids is not possible with most measuring devices, as the heavy load damages the jib of the measuring device at full filling. Even the normally utilized rotary blade level switches with approx. 10 mm shaft diameter can be used for such applications with costly protection roofs only. Especially for this kind of applications MOLLET has developed rotary blade level indicators with a shaft diameter of 20 mm, which is unique in the world. The robust MOLOSroto DF23 level switches supply reliable measuring results at heaviest loads without any protection roof. Beside the reinforced blade shaft the MOLOSroto DF24 has additional a support tube made of stainless steel with a maximum length of 500 mm. On request the support tube can also be strut with welded reinforcement ribs. A measuring…

From a standard valve to a genuine all-rounder - Part 2-
From a standard valve to a genuine all-rounder - Part 2-
Use as a discharge valve Vidos valves can be combined with sequenced locks and used as discharge valves in feed pipes, for instance, with the lock acting as the discharge unit and even high differential pressures able to be circumvented without the risk of air pockets. This significantly reduces performance losses due to leaking air as well as service and maintenance costs. In this case, the vibration of the Vidos valve ensures even dosing into the feed pipe. The feed rate can be optimised by adjusting the cycle time of the sequenced lock and the opening angle of the Vidos discharge valve. Both plant engineers and operators alike thus get a simple, cost-effective solution for numerous dosing and discharge applications. This is because exactly the same liners, bodies, actuators and control elements are used as can be found in standard valves, enabling users to benefit from the global service network, a fact appreciated by international companies in particular. Liners…

From a standard valve to a genuine all-rounder - Part 1 - Butterfly valve with vibrating disc
From a standard valve to a genuine all-rounder - Part 1 -
Butterfly valve with vibrating disc The functionality aspect of standard valves has grown increasingly important over recent years. Many discharge processes that require product flow to be regulated are straightforward in nature. The silo truck has to be filled from the stationary silo safely and with a greater level of accuracy without generating excessive amounts of dust. In addition, filling times have to be cut and the loading process made as cost-effective as possible, making the equipment usually deployed for dosing too slow or too expensive. As modern logistics can now handle more than just single-product silos, the discharge equipment being used also has to fit various product characteristics (e.g. flow properties, pouring density, susceptibility to “bridging”). The vibrating dosing valve is the perfect tool for a range of discharge tasks, some of them highly challenging. First of all, it allows the product to be discharged virtually unimpeded in its open position (full flow). If a fine flow…
