Optical Ex signal devices are found widely in explosion-endangered areas, whether in refineries, filling plants, joineries, grain mills or in the chemical and petrochemical industry. This has motivated WERMA to add three new and high light intensity Ex signal beacons 738, 782 and 784 to its existing range. Ex double flash beacon 738 has a high flash intensity of 15ws attained by the triggering of two flashes in succession. The new Ex rotating mirror beacon has a long life duration with its low wear wheel and disc drive. Ex revolving beacon 784 has an op-timised effect with the light bundling achieved by the 3 Fresnel lenses. Jeco Plastic Products designer and manufacturer of plastic pallets and containers for the worldwide printing, manufacturing and logistics industries since 1973—recently solved an unusual material handling problem for a manufacturer of over-the-road trailers. The manufacturer must move large, heavy panels, which must be kept flat. Jeco designed and manufactured a pallet measuring 117 by 54 inches, with forklift access from all sides. The rotationally molded pallet has eight steel reinforcement bars, and is capable of bearing a 36,500 lb static load and a 24,500 lb dynamic load. Discussing the unusual product, Jeco CEO Craig Carson commented: “Few plastic molders have the design capability, oven size, or molding experience necessary to manufacture a pallet such as this. The unique design provides rigidity seldom seen in a plastic structure of this size, and the pallet, with its quarter-inch thick walls, has impact resistance which far exceeds that usually available. Design based on construction of M-TDV mulitport diverter Contrary to the M-TDV multi-port with electric drive, both the new 2- and 3-TDV are activated using a pneumatic actuator, which is more cost effective. This gives a very compact design to both diverters and by using an additional line cylinder on the 3-TDV very accurate positioning is achieved. The uniquely designed seal that has already been proven on the M-TDV is also being used on the new 2- and 3-TDV. This seal is made from EPDM and is very easy to fit and clean, and being inflatable guarantees absolutely tight sealing in the conveying line up to 3 bar g. The whole range of tube diverters (2-, 3- and M-TDV) are of a sanitary design and have stainless steel AISI 316 product contact parts. The swan neck pipe connecting the inlet to outlets is designed to give minimum product degradation in every conveying direction. All conveying lines that are not in use are also sealed at the diverter outlet. This ensures that there is no air or product leakage from destinations
