ULT has developed a dedicated version of the LAS 800 extraction system free of ignition sources to increase explosion and fire protection during laser dust extraction. The all-new LAS 800 Ex was specially designed because ever finer combustible dusts are produced in laser processing due to higher input energies or shorter laser pulses. Therefore, the explosive potential increases with the degree of fineness in the dust. The ignition source-free device is an externally tested and confirmed solution that safely extracts the finest laser dusts at relatively low investment costs, utilizing H14 HEPA to ensure a separation degree of over 99.995%. Both the suitability for extracting explosive dusts (at the IBExU Institute for Safety Technology, Freiberg/Germany) and the filtration efficiency of the filters (at the Institute for Ventilation and Refrigeration Technology ILK, Dresden/Germany) were assessed. The ignition source-free design of the device ensures that the potential for explosions is eliminated when the LAS 800 Ex is used as intended, and expensive structural explosion protection can therefore be dispensed with. ULT’s extraction and filtration system, the ASD 300 Ex was developed for the efficient removal of explosive dusts. ULT’s extraction and filtration system, the ASD 300 Ex was developed for the removal of explosive dusts. It is a stationary unit for combustible dusts compliant with dust explosion category St.1. The dust extractor, based on the cartridge filtration principle, provides fully automatic filter cleaning via a compressed air multi-jet nozzle, whereby filtered materials are collected in a dust case (15 litres drum) for nearly contamination free disposal. An ideally configured filter concept helps users to save costs in the medium term, as maintenance efforts for the ASD 300 Ex are extremely low. Polyester fleece filter cartridges of category C/BIA in combination with an additional H13 filter are utilised for sustainable surface filtration. The extraction unit with stepless flow rate control of up to 450 m³/h and serial loaded filter indicator provides a max. vacuum of 22,000 Pa. Users may chose an outlet air mode via ventilation grating or respective air stubs.

From now on, it will be integrated into the company’s cartridge filter systems, which will significantly expand their communication capabilities and thus offer users convenient evaluation and control options. This ability is based on an integrated PROFINET interface, a device that enables communication with external systems, e.g., laser processing, painting or soldering systems, and, furthermore, the reading of operating states, such as filter occupancy, power, process gas temperature, error messages, and much more. New System Concept for efficient Gas and Vapor Extraction
ULT AG introduces two new extraction system versions for the removal of gases, vapors and odors. In addition to providing a space-saving, modularly and extremely rugged designed unit, the ‚ACD 200.1‘ presents a user-friendly configured system concept. It is suited for utilization in several industries, such as plastics processing, metal construction, additive manufacturing or food and beverage, furthermore in laboratories and production facilities in pharmaceutical and chemical sectors. Users benefit from the extraction system’s modularity and flexibility, because the ACD 200.1 can be configured to meet changing process conditions. For instance, the device may be individually equipped with different filter units or various amounts of adsorbents (activated carbon or chemisorption).
