ULT delivers on promises and plants over 100 trees

On April 3, 2023, ULT planted mora than 100 trees in the UNESCO biosphere reserve of the Oberlausitz heath and pond landscape. This action resulted from a promise made at the 7th ULT Symposium in May 2022.
The ULT Symposium in Löbau/Germany was designed as a climate-neutral event. An important part of that goal was the ULT’s commitment to plant a tree for each attendee at the event.

Consequently, on April 3rd, a total of 120 silver firs were planted as seedlings.

Alexander Jakschik and Dr. Stefan Jakschik, CEO of ULT AG, are happy about the campaign: ”As a company, we have set ourselves an internal goal to achieve climate neutrality in 2030. This tree planting is an important campaign for us, because we want to contribute to climate protection, and additionally want to send a message to other companies. Climate protection concerns us all, and manufacturing companies in particular must set an example.”

The ”Upper Lusatian heath and pond landscape biosphere reserve” was chosen as the site for the tree planting, because this is where the Free State of Saxony’s forest conversion program for climate-stable forests is lived and implemented.

Holm Berger, district forester in the biosphere reserve, says: ”The planting campaign by the company ULT is a further step towards the mixed forests of tomorrow. The trees planted today are more or less the natural models for the products of ULT. They ensure clean and healthy air, which is indispensable for our lives. The silver firs were planted on a former spruce area that had been damaged by the bark beetle. Together with oaks and pines, a new forest is to be created that will withstand the imponderables of climate change.”

Dr Stefan Jakschik and Alexander Jakschik, board members of the medium-sized manufacturer of systems for industrial air purification and drying, planted the first seedlings symbolically. The remaining young plants were placed in the ground over the following days.

Solutions for industrial air purification at Intec trade show
At Intec, international trade show for machine tools, production and automation technology, ULT will demonstrate how employees, manufacturing equipment and products can be protected from the influence of airborne pollutants. Dust, smoke, vapors, odors, or gases are produced in many industrial cutting, joining or surface treatment processes. These partly nanoscale particles must be effectively removed according to legal requirements in order to guarantee occupational health and safety in manufacturing companies. ULT provides comprehensive solutions in the field of extraction and filtration technology for a wide variety of air pollutants and emissions. At the Intec in Leipzig, the company is presenting – among others – its latest extraction system for laser fume and explosive laser dust, the LAS 800. Above all, the fume extractor impresses with a wide range of options, and can be flexibly adapted to changing working conditions and machining processes. In the field of pollutant detection, ULT will also present its know-how. By means of various collection solutions, it will be impressively demonstrated how a clever capturing and system design may increase the filtration process in terms

New fume extractor with increased Ex protection during laser processes
ULT has developed a dedicated version of the LAS 800 extraction system free of ignition sources to increase explosion and fire protection during laser dust extraction. The all-new LAS 800 Ex was specially designed because ever finer combustible dusts are produced in laser processing due to higher input energies or shorter laser pulses. Therefore, the explosive potential increases with the degree of fineness in the dust. The ignition source-free device is an externally tested and confirmed solution that safely extracts the finest laser dusts at relatively low investment costs, utilizing H14 HEPA to ensure a separation degree of over 99.995%. Both the suitability for extracting explosive dusts (at the IBExU Institute for Safety Technology, Freiberg/Germany) and the filtration efficiency of the filters (at the Institute for Ventilation and Refrigeration Technology ILK, Dresden/Germany) were assessed. The ignition source-free design of the device ensures that the potential for explosions is eliminated when the LAS 800 Ex is used as intended, and expensive structural explosion protection can therefore be dispensed with. The LAS 800

Cost-optimised extraction and filtration of combustible dusts
ULT’s extraction and filtration system, the ASD 300 Ex was developed for the efficient removal of explosive dusts. ULT’s extraction and filtration system, the ASD 300 Ex was developed for the removal of explosive dusts. It is a stationary unit for combustible dusts compliant with dust explosion category St.1. The dust extractor, based on the cartridge filtration principle, provides fully automatic filter cleaning via a compressed air multi-jet nozzle, whereby filtered materials are collected in a dust case (15 litres drum) for nearly contamination free disposal. An ideally configured filter concept helps users to save costs in the medium term, as maintenance efforts for the ASD 300 Ex are extremely low. Polyester fleece filter cartridges of category C/BIA in combination with an additional H13 filter are utilised for sustainable surface filtration. The extraction unit with stepless flow rate control of up to 450 m³/h and serial loaded filter indicator provides a max. vacuum of 22,000 Pa. Users may chose an outlet air mode via ventilation grating or respective air stubs.

New control increases functionality of fume extraction systems
A new control enables the digital evaluation and control of the ULT extraction systems, which significantly expand their communication capabilities and thus offer users convenient evaluation and control options. ULT AG, vendor of extraction and filtration technology for air purification in manufacturing companies, presents a new system control. From now on, it will be integrated into the company’s cartridge filter systems, which will significantly expand their communication capabilities and thus offer users convenient evaluation and control options. This ability is based on an integrated PROFINET interface, a device that enables communication with external systems, e.g., laser processing, painting or soldering systems, and, furthermore, the reading of operating states, such as filter occupancy, power, process gas temperature, error messages, and much more. ULT AG offers the PROFINET interface as a standard in its large fume extraction devices. An essential part of the new system control is a display with plain text. This enables, for example, the reading of operating and system states, status messages for the extraction system and device parameterization. The display
