Big Bag Storage: Three Issues and How to Overcome Them
Overcome the three biggest big bag storage challenges to save space, reduce costs, and unlock smoother, faster production growth. Space is crucial in a production environment. And yet, we often see that companies underestimate the impact of inefficient big bag (or FIBC, bulk bag, Super Sack) storage. At Indus, we visit factories every week. In different industries, we come across the same storage-related issues. These problems are often overlooked, but they can limit operational efficiency and slow down production growth. 1. Storage that limits adaptability Many companies use fixed systems to store bulk material. Big bags are placed in pallet racks, other companies use flow bins, or even indoor silos. But these solutions do not always fit the reality of modern production environments. Racks are not easy to move. Even when they are empty, they take up valuable floor space. Flow bins are often heavy and difficult to clean, and they need to be returned after use. Silos are permanent structures that require significant investment and planning, and they cannot easily be adjusted to changes in

Three Key Challenges in Plastics Production and How to Overcome Them
Efficiency and continuity are vital: machines run nonstop and operators add value, yet factories face supply chain complexity and inefficient bulk handling. At Indus Bulk Logistics, we visit a wide range of plastics production sites across Europe and North America. What we see is that the way raw materials enter the production process directly impacts safety, costs, and output. Whether it’s virgin granulate, regrind, or recycled material, the packaging format – big bags (also: Super Sacks, FIBCs, bulk bags), octabins, or 25kg bags – often creates bottlenecks. Based on our experience, here are three of the biggest challenges plastics manufacturers face when it comes to raw material handling: # High investment costs in unloading systems # Excessive manual handling by operators # Machine downtime due to irregular supply Ad 1. High investment costs in unloading systems Every plastics factory wants to run continuous, automated, and reliable production. But that starts with supply: how are your raw materials delivered to the factory floor? - FIBCs (big bags/bulk bags): Frequently used for regrind or recycled materials.

24/7 big bag processing in oil production at Gustav Heess
24/7 oil production with stacked big bag systems, safe handling and up to 60% space savings at Gustav Heess. Gustav Heess, a leading producer of vegetable oils for the cosmetics, food and pharma industries, launched a new factory in 2025 to expand capacity. With over 100 oil types in production and raw materials such as seeds and nuts arriving in bulk, the company required a flexible and continuous material handling solution. Traditional internal silos were ruled out due to high cleaning costs, limited traceability, and poor space efficiency. The solution had to deliver uninterrupted flow, maximum use of factory space, and safe material handling — all while supporting circular use of materials. How Indus big bag systems support continuous oil production * FlowPole systems keep product flowing from big bags, even during night shifts with no operators present * Unloading stations are designed to stack 2 or even 3 systems, allowing up to 4m³ of raw material input within a compact footprint * Filling stations are used for both raw materials and by-products such as press

When Quality and Time Matter: How Allod Gained Efficiency with Indus From outsourced filling to full in-house control — Allod cuts time, space, and quality risks with Indus Neva, achieving ROI in just 4 years.
When Quality and Time Matter: How Allod Gained Efficiency with Indus
From outsourced filling to full in-house control — Allod cuts time, space, and quality risks with Indus Neva, achieving ROI in just 4 years. Since May 2023, Allod Werkstoff GmbH & Co. KG, a German specialist in high- performance TPE and thermoplastic compounds, has been using the Indus Neva Springhead big bag handling system to streamline their internal logistics. The switch has transformed how they fill their silo trucks — bringing the process entirely in-house for more control, reduced handling time, and a solid return on investment. The Challenge: Outsourced Filling Created Quality Risks Before adopting the Indus system, Allod had to ship filled big bags to a third-party logistics provider, where the bags were emptied into trucks. This extra step added not only time and cost, but also a quality risk: handling by external parties meant less control over product integrity and contamination potential. The Solution: maximize handling speed with Indus Neva After evaluating alternatives such as expensive bulk truck loaders and complex material conveyors, Allod chose the Indus Neva Springhead with open

Indus Flow vs. Traditional Hoists: Smart Big Bag Unloading
Indus Flow offers automatic, efficient big bag handling, outclassing traditional hoists with its compact, cost-saving, and user-friendly design In the world of big bag handling, there are various methods to efficiently process bulk goods. Two commonly used systems are the traditional hoist system and the innovative big bag discharge station from Indus. This article outlines the differences between these systems and explains why the Indus Flow, the latest innovation from Indus, is the smartest choice for companies looking to discharge big bags. Indus Flow: Revolutionizing Big Bag handling The Indus Flow is the latest and most advanced solution on the market for big bag handling. Unlike traditional hoist systems, which are labor-intensive and require full discharge, the Indus Flow offers a fully automatic and controlled method for discharging big bags. The innovative spring system automatically pushes the big bag upwards, resulting in fast and efficient discharge without the need for manual intervention. This makes the Indus Flow ideal for companies looking to optimize their production processes and save costs. Advantages
