Screw feeders are widely used to control the rate of discharge from bulk storage hoppers, but they also enable extra capacity to be stored, headroom saved and flow performance improved. When designed as an integral part of the storage system they rectify segregation occurred during the filling of the hopper and provide optimum conditions to counter any tendency for the contents to ‘flush’ during discharge. However, to secure maximum operating benefits the extraction pattern per unit length of the feeder should match the cross sectional area of the hopper that it serves. As the feeder is usually shorter than the hopper dimension, the extraction rate demand at the start and end of the feeder opening can vary to many times that of the intermediate sections. A common technique employed to generate progressive extraction along the length of the outlet slot is to increase the screw pitch. The Vortex Titan Slide Gate consists of a heavy-duty carbon steel frame with 304 stainless steel blade. Material contact is 304 stainless steel and polymer. These valves will be utilised in a feed system that comprises of two Titan Gate Valves, separated by an intermediate feed hopper. The valves will operate in tandem to facilitate semi-continuous feeding of solid waste pet material via a feed hopper into a feed trough. The valves are designed to handle feedstock up to 50mm to a design temperature of 205° C and are ATEX rated. This 600mm rectangular Vortex Titan Slide Gate features a heavy-duty valve frame construction based on formed carbon steel channel with a beveled, 304 stainless steel blade and liner. Material contact is 304 stainless steel and polymer. Access in the valve frame allows for removal and replacement of bonnet seals while the gate remains in service. The gate is actuated by an epoxy-coated, double acting air cylinder equipped with a magnetic ring which activates a magnetic position indicating switch.

Increasing capacity by reducing material build-up in the buckets and improving hygiene throughout the production process. CHALLENGE Largest UK producer of rape / canola oil required an increase in the tonnage capacity of the elevator along with steps to improve hygiene and reduce the risk of salmonella contamination throughout their production facility. Oil and dust sticks to the traditional fabricated steel buckets building up and reducing capacity of the elevator. Over time these deposits grow and can reduce capacity of the buckets. These then start to break off in lumps and can contaminate the production process further along the refining process. A preheater with a throughput of 51 tph leaves our production facility and is sent on its journey to the customer. KÖLLEMANN preheaters are used to heat up petroleum coke. Petroleum coke is a residue formed as a by-product of petroleum refining and is made of almost pure carbon. KÖLLEMANN preheaters perform the heating process and heat the product from at least 0°C to approx. 200°C. The heated petroleum coke is then mixed with hot pitch in a kneader. The paste formed is then pressed into a block shape. These blocks are then baked and represent the anode, which is used in the Hall-Héroult process (electrolysis) for the reduction of aluminium.
