The new crm+ level sensors are equipped with IO-Link interface version 1.1. The IO-Link interface transfers measured distance values as well as identification, status and diagnosis values. By Lyn Bates, Ajax, Bolton, UK A key factor is whether the unacceptable material condition is the result of the supply being outside the range defined in the contract specification , or is a result of changes taking place during the handling processes. Various properties of the material must be known or assumed with a high degree of confidence for design purposes and a responsible supplier would be assured of these values before proceeding to manufacture, either by experience, or testing ‘representative’ samples in the case of any uncertainty. In the production of lollipops, the taste and aroma of the candy are highly connected to the sugar quantities used in the recipe and applied to the product’s surface as a special final touch. Controlling the amount of sugar applied to the lollipops by ensuring the sugar’s correct moisture content presented a challenge for our customer. When the moisture content is very low, consequently not enough sugar is attached to the lollipops as it is unable to stick. If there is too much moisture in the sugar, it will create lumps and small crystals on the lollipops. Too much or too little sugar leads to a reduction and inconsistency in the final product. For a major food producer Gericke had the challenge to replace mechanical transport systems with pneumatic conveying systems. The goal was to prevent any foreign bodies often associated with mechanical systems and at the same time not to change the grain sizes of the various rice types for example long grain, basmati and risotto rice. During the evaluation phase Gericke demonstrated conveying trials that replicated the clients process at its major test facility in Regensdorf (Switzerland) that a low velocity dense phase plug conveying system is perfectly suited to smoothly convey rice over distances of up to 70 m. Fuchs Maschinen AG offers a solution for the control sifting of bulk material: the ControMat VE 450 and VE 630 in square shape with various sifting capacities between 0,15 m² and 0,3 m². Up to now, the ControMat used to be delivered without outlet for foreign particles. The new version is rectangular and is provided with an outlet for oversized and foreign particles. The control sifter ControMat is mainly used in the food, the chemical and the pharmaceutical industries. Thanks to their modular building concept, individual sifter components can be easily adapted to the customer’s needs. Cleaning and replacing the sieve decks is extremely simple, as the ControMat can be dismounted without tools. Over time, the abrasive minerals had caused a lot of wear and fouling, which meant that the continuity of providing the plant with raw materials could no longer be guaranteed. Return pulley The investigation learned that both the drive pulley and the return pulley had to be replaced. This operation has been carried out not just substituting components but by implementing notable improvements, increasing the durability of the elevator. The return pulley (lower drum) has been replaced by an open wing pulley with cone in the middle. The microwaves penetrate the wood chips and are received by a second antenna above the belt. When penetrating the wood chips, the microwave signal‘s characteristics change in terms of attenuation and phase shift. These changes directly correlate to the wood chip moisture. Reliable control of all connections at a hose couplings station Automatically control of internal media flows and the visualization with the PLC is the order of the day. This smart way of process control is realized by the intelligent couplings-system from MOLLET with the brand name MOLOScode. Each hose gets a transponder and any pipe connection is equipped with a reading device that deliver via bus-system the data about any single coupling point directly to the PLC.
