Greif-Velox presents new solutions for complex packaging processes

At Powtech Technopharm 2026, the focus will be on standardized filling and bagging systems, automated fine-thread closures, dust-free vacuum packaging, integrated robotic labeling and Packaging as a Service for greater process reliability.
At Powtech Technopharm 2026 from September 29 to October 1, 2026, Greif-Velox will present solutions for filling, bagging and palletizing powders, granules and liquids in Hall 9, Booth 9-450. Two applications can be experienced live at the booth: the ValvoSeal Safe ultrasonic sealing solution and a Bizerba label robot for automated drum labeling. In addition, Greif-Velox will provide information on standardized packaging systems, the automation of previously manual process steps and new models for the flexible use of packaging technology.

MOIN Powtech – Machines. Original. Innovative. North.

Under the motto “MOIN Powtech,” Greif-Velox will present its range of solutions from individual machines to complete packaging lines. The portfolio includes systems for valve bags and FIBCs as well as solutions for canisters, drums and IBCs, complemented by palletizing, service and digitalization solutions.

Essential Line: standardized solutions for typical applications

With the Essential Line, Greif-Velox complements its customized Custom Line with preconfigured packaging systems designed for a large share of typical industrial applications. The aim is to provide a high degree of planning reliability, reduced engineering effort and short delivery times of around four weeks.
The Essential Line currently comprises four systems.
The R-DOS Essential is designed for filling liquids with viscosities from 1 to 1,500 mPas and achieves outputs of up to 42 drums of 200 liters or 13 IBCs per hour.
The BVP Essential is a pneumatic valve bag packer for powders with bulk densities between 350 and 800 g/l. Depending on the application, outputs of 100 to 140 valve bags per hour are possible. The system is available in four configuration levels.
The VeloVac Essential uses vacuum technology for low-dust bagging of ultra-light and highly aerated powders such as carbon black, silica or color pigments. The technology can increase bulk density by up to a factor of four, significantly reducing storage and transportation volume.
The ValvoSeal Essential completes the portfolio as a manual ultrasonic sealing unit for suitable valve bags made of paper, PE or PP.
“With the Essential Line, we are creating a new entry-level class that offers our customers planning reliability, quality and speed,” says Managing Director Sebastian Pohl.

ValvoSeal Safe live at the booth

Greif-Velox will present the ValvoSeal Safe live in Nuremberg. The system seals valve bags using ultrasonic technology for a tight and reproducible closure. Visitors can experience the sealing process directly at the booth using sample bags.
The presentation will be complemented by dy-Pack as co-sponsor with vacuum-packed silica sample bags.

VeloDrum SafeClosure: automated fine-thread closures in drum filling

Another key topic for discussions at the booth will be the patent-pending VeloDrum SafeClosure. Until now, opening and closing fine-thread bung closures in drum filling systems has largely been a manual process. Greif-Velox has developed a solution that fully automates this process step.
The sequence comprises six monitored steps: camera-assisted positioning, checking, opening, filling, closing and verification.
A centering ring is first positioned on the bung opening. A pressure test checks the correct position and sealing. The closure is then opened and reinserted after filling. Torque and screwing-depth monitoring support a reproducible closing process.
The VeloDrum SafeClosure is designed for steel drums with 2-inch plastic fine-thread closures or 2-inch steel closures, as well as plastic drums with BCS 56 x 4 and BCS 70 x 6 plastic closures.
Visitors to Powtech can learn more at the Greif-Velox booth about the solution, how it works and potential applications in automated drum filling processes.

Bizerba label robot live at the booth

Together with Bizerba, Greif-Velox will demonstrate automated drum labeling live at Powtech.
Bizerba will be present as a co-exhibitor at the Greif-Velox booth. During the live demonstration, the Bizerba GLM-P drum labeler produces the appropriate label, which is then automatically applied to the drum by a robotic arm.
This demonstrates how identification and labeling can be integrated as an automated process step within a drum filling line. Greif-Velox and Bizerba will also present their joint solutions for labeling bags, drums and pallets.

Packaging as a Service: flexible use of packaging technology

With Packaging as a Service (PaaS), Greif-Velox and CHG-Meridian offer an alternative usage model for packaging technology.
Instead of making a conventional capital investment, customers can use packaging systems based on predictable monthly payments. Depending on the model, service and consumables can also be integrated. This enables companies to build up packaging capacity more flexibly and improve investment planning.

Experience technology and discuss applications

In addition to the live applications, Booth 9-450 will offer further opportunities to experience packaging solutions digitally. These include an LED wall with product videos and 3D animations as well as iPad and VR applications.

A separate meeting area will be available for personal and confidential discussions. In keeping with the “MOIN Powtech” theme, the Greif-Velox Waffle Bakery will round off the booth concept with freshly made waffles and a touch of northern German hospitality.

Retrofit Instead of New Build: Münzing Automates Packaging Line
Münzing upgrades an existing BVP packer with a bag placer and conveyor system. The retrofit increases automation, reuses existing infrastructure and achieves an output of 60 bags per hour at a bag weight of 20 kilograms. Modernizing a packaging process does not always require a completely new system. When existing machinery is technically sound, it can be more economical and sustainable to automate selected process steps and adapt the equipment to changing production requirements. This was the approach taken by additive manufacturer Münzing together with GREIF-VELOX. An existing manually operated BVP packer was expanded with additional components to create a largely automated packaging line. Targeted Upgrade of the Existing BVP Packer The starting point of the project was an existing BVP packer used for filling wax products with additives into bags. Instead of replacing the machine entirely, the project team assessed how the packaging process could be automated through a targeted retrofit. The system was equipped with an S1 automatic bag placer and a bag conveyor line. The bag placer automatically feeds the empty bags and positions them on the filling spout. After filling, the bags…

How to package ultralight powders efficiently
Ultralight powders such as carbon black, silica, pigments, fibres or certain pesticides place particular demands on packaging processes. The challenge is not only to fill a product into a bag with precision. What matters is the entire process: from safe product handling and low-dust filling to compaction, sealing and the creation of stable, stackable packaging units for storage, transport and logistics. Especially when handling very fine and light bulk materials, conventional packaging methods often reach their limits. These products typically have a very low bulk density, tend to generate dust and are difficult to form into stable bags. The result can be voluminous, unstable bags that require significant storage and transport capacity and create additional challenges in downstream handling. Vacuum compaction as a key technology GREIF-VELOX’s VeloVac technology is designed specifically for these requirements. At the heart of the process is vacuum compaction for ultralight powders. By compacting the product inside the bag in a controlled way, the volume can be significantly reduced. This results in more compact, stable and stackable bags. This improves the entire…
