Lödige introduces fine drum perforation for LC coaters

Gebrüder Lödige Maschinenbau has introduced a 0.5 mm drum perforation for its LC series coaters. The option allows mini-tablets and pellets to be processed efficiently in a single coater.

Processing challenges with mini-tablets

Pharmaceutical mini-tablets measuring 1 to 3 mm in diameter are becoming increasingly popular due to benefits such as optimised active ingredient release. However, coating these small particles traditionally required fluidised bed systems rather than conventional tablet coaters.

Fine drum perforation expands capabilities

Gebrüder Lödige Maschinenbau has developed a drum perforation option with a diameter of just 0.5 mm, down from the previous 1 mm standard, for its LC coater series. This enables mini-tablets and pellets to be coated directly inside the coating drum.

Single system for all tablet sizes

The innovation allows operators to coat both mini-tablets and standard tablets within the same machine, saving process time and reducing equipment requirements while opening up new application areas.

Lödige Dashboard: New System for Machine Data Visualization
Gebrüder Lödige Maschinenbau has developed the Lödige Dashboard for browser-based visualization and analysis of machine and process data. The system can also be retrofitted to existing equipment. Transparent process analysis in real time The Lödige Dashboard expands machine control systems with analysis and information functions. It provides real-time and historical visualization of process data, maintenance tools to increase plant availability, and fast access to machine documentation. Customisable displays support trend recognition and recipe development. Local data storage for enhanced cyber security Data capture, processing, and storage take place locally on an industrial PC in the control cabinet without cloud connectivity, protecting operational data from cyber threats. By default, data is stored for 365 days, with optional external access via VPN. Straightforward retrofitting for existing machinery The dashboard can be integrated into new plants or retrofitted to existing equipment. Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) connect directly, while conventional controls use an additional communication module. An OPC UA interface enables communication with…

Lödige launches FKM Basic Ploughshare batch mixer series
Gebrüder Lödige has introduced its new FKM Basic Ploughshare batch mixers. The standardized design for bulk solids handling delivers short delivery times and excellent mixing quality. Standardised design for short delivery times The new FKM Basic series of Ploughshare batch mixers from Gebrüder Lödige Maschinenbau features rapid availability and a strong price-performance ratio. This is achieved through a universal machine design in a standardised format. The delivery time is approximately four months. Versatile options for bulk solids processing Designed for processing powdery, granular, or fibrous bulk materials, the FKM type comes with a clearly defined functional scope. This can be extended with options such as choppers, liquid addition equipment, product thermometers, control systems, and ATEX explosion protection. Seven sizes manufactured in Germany The FKM Basic mixers are available in seven sizes ranging from 130 to 3000 litres. All variants deliver short batch times, high mixing quality, and repeatable batch consistency. Like the custom-engineered machines, the units are manufactured entirely at Lödige's headquarters in Paderborn and meet…

Gypsum processing for the production of plaster boards using the ringl
The production process for plasterboard and gypsum fibre board starts with the specific preparation of the raw material. A ringlayer mixing system offers different advantages compared to other mixing processes. Plasterboard and gypsum fibre board are used billions of times over in interior construction. A recent market report [1] estimates the global production volume for 2025 to be around 16.89 billion square metres. This figure is expected to increase to 22.76 billion square metres by 2030. Manufacturers of these building materials must therefore produce very large quantities of the required quality at an internationally competitive price. The gypsum core of a board plays a key role in ensuring that plasterboard and gypsum fibre boards can fulfil their specific functions in drywall and acoustic construction to the highest standard, determining product properties such as flexibility, stability and fire resistance. Preparation process To ensure that the gypsum core is suitable for these tasks, the raw material – ground and calcined gypsum stone (calcium sulphate dihydrate, CaSO₄·2H₂O) – must be processed according to the relevant specifications. The result of this…

FKM Containment; new mixer for high containment applications
Gebrüder Lödige Maschinenbau GmbH has introduced the FKM Containment, the first mixer in its range specifically designed for use up to OEB Level 5. In modern production environments – particularly in the pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries – mixing processes often generate dust, aerosols or other potentially hazardous substances. Without effective containment measures, these substances can endanger the health of staff or compromise product quality. Designed for use up to OEB Level 5 Gebrüder Lödige Maschinenbau GmbH is responding to this and has introduced the FKM Containment, the first mixer in its range specifically designed for use up to OEB Level 5. This new machine design is based on the Ploughshare® Mixer developed and established by Lödige, which enables highest mixing accuracy in shortest possible mixing time. The machine has been specially adapted for containment applications by optimally complementing the mixing system with suitable feeding and discharge systems, a two-stage filter system, a flexible isolator for machine access and modifications of the seals. The features in…
