Modular system solution for efficient mixing, conveying, and filling
Modular system combining a Prodima mixer, hopper, and conveyor optimizes powder processing. It boosts efficiency, cuts downtime, and maintains high mixing quality for food, pharma, and chemical industries in a compact footprint.
How can mixing quality, productivity, and flexibility be optimally combined in a compact production plant? This question was posed by a manufacturer of powder products across all industrial sectors as part of modernizing their production.
After extensive mixing trials, the decision was made in favor of a modular system combination consisting of a mobile Prodima mixer MP-150 (mixing volume approx. 130 liters), an intermediate hopper, a flexible mechanical conveyor, and an existing filling system.
The main factors influencing this system configuration were, in particular, the high mixing accuracy, short mixing times, the flexible useful volume of min. 10%, max. 90% of the mixer, as well as low energy consumption. Additionally, the mobility of the mobile mixer allows the same mixer to be used on multiple production lines if required.
After the mixing process, the product is discharged into an intermediate hopper. While the flexible screw conveyor continuously transports the mixed material to the filling system, the mixer can already be prepared or refilled for the next batch. This reduces downtime and increases productivity.
The closed product flow from the mixer to the filling system minimizes dust emissions and ensures a clean production process at the same time. The flexible conveyor operates quietly and transports the product without segregation, maintaining the achieved mixing quality all the way to the filling stage. Level switches monitor the fill level of the intermediate hopper and control the conveying process automatically. As a result, the filling system is fed continuously and as needed, without requiring operator intervention.
Another advantage of the Prodima technology is its high flexibility regarding the products that can be processed. Powders, granules, flakes, or grains can be efficiently mixed using the same system. If required, liquids such as oils, flavors, or lecithin can also be evenly introduced during the mixing process. This makes the system equally suitable for applications in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetics, and plastics industries.
The result is a compact, energy-efficient, and flexibly expandable process solution that combines high product quality with economical production. The combination of powerful mixing, gentle conveying, and automated feeding of the filling system creates a seamless process that sustainably improves both efficiency and operational safety.
