Patent for Bolz Intec: Optimised Grind Finishing® process
Milestone for surface innovation in stainless steel - result of years of research together with the University of Constance
BOLZ INTEC GmbH has completed a significant development step: The Optimised Grind Finishing® process (OGF), developed in close cooperation with the University of Konstanz, was successfully patented at the end of March 2025. This marks the culmination of several years of research work - with a process that takes stainless steel processing for high-tech applications to a new level.
Optimised Grind Finishing® (OGF) reduces particle adhesion to stainless steel surfaces to an unprecedented minimum. This makes a significant contribution to reducing the risk of product contamination and ensuring the integrity of sensitive manufacturing processes - for example in the production of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or fine chemicals. In addition, the improved cleanability of the surfaces enables a significant reduction in the use of abrasives, aggressive cleaning chemicals, water and energy. The process therefore not only contributes to product quality and safety, but also supports the sustainable use of resources in industry.
‘For us, the patenting of the OGF process marks the successful conclusion of an intensive development project lasting several years. It is an expression of a systematic innovation process that combines technological precision with social responsibility,’ explains Dipl. oec. The Optimised Grind Finishing® process produces high-precision, metallically pure stainless steel surfaces with a defined roughness - with a high level of process reliability. It is used for containers, funnels and special designs made of stainless steel, such as those manufactured by BOLZ INTEC for top pharmaceutical companies worldwide.
