Dorstener Drahtwerke Expands Specialty Wire Production in the US

WCJ Pilgrim Wire, a subsidiary of Dorstener Drahtwerke Group, has acquired Mount Joy Wire. The transaction expands the group's specialty steel wire manufacturing capacities and market presence in North America.

Full Acquisition of Mount Joy Wire

WCJ Pilgrim Wire of York, Pennsylvania, a subsidiary of the German Dorstener Drahtwerke Group, has completed the acquisition of all remaining shares in US-based Mount Joy Wire. The strategic step strengthens the group's footprint and market position in North America.

Manufacturing Capacities and Focus

Founded in 1991, Mount Joy Wire operates a 20,400-square-metre production facility and employs approximately 120 people. The company manufactures a broad portfolio of special wire products, including high-carbon wires. Mount Joy Wire will retain its management structure, operational focus, and existing workforce to ensure continuity for customers and suppliers.

Strategic Synergies in North America

The acquisition aligns with Dorstener Drahtwerke's long-term strategy of international diversification. The expansion enables WCJ Pilgrim Wire to broaden its offering through shared expertise and growing production and distribution networks across the United States.

Leadership Commentary

Paul Tüshaus, co-managing director of Dorstener Drahtwerke, highlighted that Mount Joy Wire's values as a family business make it an ideal fit. He noted that the acquisition creates benefits for all group companies through shared expertise, aligned capacities, and improved product availability at market-aligned prices.

Precision in Focus: Correct Installation of Screen Media
Curt Ebert Siebtechnik GmbH is issuing technical guidelines for the installation of screen media to increase efficiency in bulk solids processing and minimize costly downtime caused by wear and tear. Preparation and cleaning of the machine A smooth screening process begins before the actual installation. Thorough cleaning of all support surfaces on the screen machine frame to remove adhering material is mandatory. Furthermore, rubber linings on the supports must be checked for abrasion and correct height, and replaced if necessary. Only a clean base guarantees the optimal fit of the medium. Correct tensioning for maximum service life The tensioning process is a decisive factor for the component’s service life. Tensioning rails or hooks must engage fully with the screen media tensioning folds. Initial tensioning should always be performed evenly from the center of the fold outwards before final tightening. Achieving firm contact with all supports is the primary goal. * Cleaning of support surfaces before installation * Inspection of rubber profiles for wear * Even pre-tensioning starting from the center * Firm contact on all support profiles Regular…

The Curt Ebert Siebtechnik GmbH has been supplying innovative solutions for the separation and classification of bulk materials for 100 years. The broad product range serves key industries such as construction and mining. Curt Ebert products are essential for processing raw materials in demanding industries. By using durable materials and precise manufacturing, the screen decks ensure maximum screening performance and reduce downtimes. This is particularly important in gravel and sand extraction, natural stone processing, and the increasingly important area of construction material recycling. The high wear resistance leads to significant cost savings and an increase in overall production. PU screens - the plastic alternative
Advantages of PU screens: wear resistance, high cut resistance, high elasticity, less clogging, noise reduction. Our polyurethane screens, also known as PU or PUR screens, are the perfect choice for demanding screening tasks. Made from high-quality polyurethane, these screens offer a significantly longer service life in the work process due to their excellent abrasion resistance against wear and corrosion. Compared to wire screens, polyurethane screens are more resistant and durable. The use of PU screens offers many advantages such as long wear resistance, high cut resistance, high elasticity, almost complete freedom from clogging and significant noise reduction. This makes them an ideal choice for demanding screening applications, especially when screening moist bulk materials. Curt-Ebert-Siebtechnik offers a fast replacement and delivery service for all standard machines to ensure that your machines do not come to a standstill due to a broken screen. Find out more about our range at BAUMA from 7 to 13 April in Munich, Hall B2 / 519.

OptiScreen HS harp screens, made for heavy-duty screening tasks
Optimum screening results thanks to the OptiScreen HS harp screens from Curt-Ebert-Siebtechnik; self-cleaning; avoids blockages; sharp grain separation The screen panels consist of individual continuous longitudinal wires corrugated in the screening plane with square screen openings in a diagonal hole arrangement. The individual longitudinal wires lying flat next to each other are held in place by PUR strips melted in at defined intervals so that the longitudinal wires between these cross-connections have a springy freedom of movement. OptiScreen HS harp screens have the advantage that the longitudinal wires lie exactly in the screen plane, particularly in the case of cross-tensioned screen panels. This makes it possible to increase the spacing of the PUR cross-connections and improve screen cleaning. The spacing of the PUR cross connections should be designed so that there is one cross connection on each of the cross supports of the screening machine frame. OptiScreen prevents blockages OptiScreen HS harp screens have square screen openings. The resilient freedom of movement of the individual longitudinal wires…
