JACOB Sustainability Report
JACOB Sustainability Report

Sustainability – simply do it

Sustainability has been an attitude and a responsibility at JACOB for over 100 years.

For us, sustainability is not a short-term project, but a fundamental attitude that has shaped our actions as a fourth-generation family business for over 100 years. We bear responsibility towards our employees, our customers, our region and future generations. This responsibility is firmly anchored in our corporate culture and guides us in every decision we make.

Our first sustainability report is therefore more than just a collection of figures and climate measures. It shows how we understand and live responsibility as a company, as an employer and as a partner. We think holistically and act courageously: for us, sustainability means designing resource-saving processes, developing innovative solutions for our customers and actively promoting social engagement.
As Patrick Jacob, managing director and family man, describes it, sustainability is not a sprint for us, but an alpine expedition. It’s about focus, passion, perseverance and the willingness to continuously improve. We want to act today in such a way that we remain independent, successful and responsible tomorrow. In doing so, we focus on measures that make sense and have a long-term impact – and we are open about where we are already successful and where we want to develop further.

The year 2024 marks a milestone for us: to coincide with JACOB’s 100th anniversary, we have begun to systematically record and transparently evaluate our sustainability activities. Our report is based on the three central pillars of economy, ecology and social issues. It provides insights into our resource-saving processes, our social commitment and our innovative strength. At the same time, it makes it clear that sustainability is an ongoing process in which we are constantly evolving.

With this report, we are highlighting how sustainability is lived at JACOB. We invite you to see for yourself what drives us and how we take responsibility together.

JACOB honoured at ”Fabrik des Jahres” awards
JACOB was awarded the GEO Award as part of the ”Fabrik des Jahres” competition. We are proud that our site in Porta Westfalica has been awarded the GEO Award in the ”Fabrik des Jahres” competition. The jury particularly praised our high level of vertical integration, specially developed automation solutions, consistent end-to-end planning and our production strategy with a clear focus on sustainability. Culture of cooperation Jan Niklas Töws, Director of Operations & Supply Chain Management at JACOB, describes the secret of our success as follows: ”We won because we consistently do what makes sense. Our goal is for our customers to enjoy working with us. That’s why we design our processes to be simple for our customers and are happy to accept internal detours to achieve this. We act with common sense rather than rigid processes. Each individual takes responsibility and contributes their knowledge so that we can improve together. This culture of cooperation ensures that we remain flexible, react quickly and always keep the customer

JACOB expands its range with E-Drive and magnetic separator fork
JACOB is expanding its portfolio with two new products: the E-Drive series and the magnetic separator as a fork piece. With its new E-Drive series, JACOB is focusing on maximum energy efficiency and modern electric drive technology as a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to pneumatic solutions. The E-Drive drives impress with fast changeover times, high drive power and intuitive, tool-free setup. Thanks to various control options, the drives can be flexibly integrated into existing systems. Fully electric operation enables annual CO₂ savings of up to 40 kilograms compared to pneumatic drives and ensures permanently efficient and low-maintenance operation. Another new addition to the range is the magnetic separator as a fork piece, which enables efficient separation of metallic contaminants in the conveyed material. In addition to the magnetic separator as a T-piece, JACOB thus offers another practical solution for increasing process reliability in bulk material and conveyor systems. With these additions to its product range, JACOB underlines its claim to be a reliable

Macher Day inspires more than 900 visitors in Porta Westfalica
We were the first company to organise a Macher Day, based on the Real Life Guys’ Macher Festival. The first Macher Day was a complete success: More than 900 young guests accepted the invitation to the company premises in Porta Westfalica and experienced a day full of action, inspiration and real manual labour. In cooperation with the YouTubers of the Real Life Guys, the site was transformed into a lively hands-on festival - the first of its kind organised by a company. Whether it was tree climbing, welding, driving an excavator or other hands-on activities on interactive machines - the motto everywhere was: roll up your sleeves and try it out for yourself. The Macher Day was an event for all those who prefer to get stuck in rather than just watch. ”We wanted to create a day that would encourage, inspire and simply be fun - and that’s exactly what we achieved. The enthusiasm of the visitors was overwhelming. Our thanks go to all our partners, colleagues and helpers who made this special day possible.” The Macher Day impressively demonstrated how much
