New managing director TBK Group: Stan Egging

New director TBK Group Stan Egging: ’an inspired professional idiot’

Steady growth, further professionalisation and international expansion. With Stan Egging (45), TBK Group aims to develop into a total solution provider in the field of innovative solutions for conveyor belt components and bulk material handling.

Long-term vision

It is perhaps his Calvinistic background that made Egging feel at home with the Renswoude-based TBK Group from the very first moment. Bart Kelderman and Wijnand van de Vendel (shareholders of TBK Group, ed.) are very nice people and give me energy. He sees parallels between the corporate culture and the down-to-earth ”just do as you’re told” and ”a deal is a deal”, a tradition the director was brought up on. He is also averse to superficial interpretations and quick fixes. He prefers to focus on a long-term vision of sustainability. ”I am a real go-getter, don’t like stagnation, but progress. So my motto is: ’People who move keep moving, literally and figuratively.’”

Exclusivity

As to what appeals so much to Egging in his new position as managing director at TBK Group, he does not have to think for long: ”Here lies a request for help, where I can use all my expertise to take the company further into the future.” The scion of an entrepreneurial family, he was captivated by entrepreneurship from an early age and developed an enthusiastic, creative entrepreneurial spirit quite quickly. His performance drive, problem-solving ability and ambition to be ultimately responsible earned him his first managerial position as early as his twenties. It was the beginning of a passionate career in various sectors with a variety of interpersonal contacts, from which Egging says he has derived great satisfaction: ”It has brought me to the core of why I am here now. I was always looking for how I could make a difference by providing companies with a piece of exclusivity and helping them to become more sustainable from my expertise. Exactly what TBK Group also stands for: wanting to deliver the right solution, stand behind it 100 per cent and, in addition, provide the customer with an additional solution, which justifies the investment even more.”

Sustainability

The managing director maintains a realistic vision, which should lead to revenue growth and increased international business size. ”We are facing issues now that we did not consider decades ago, such as global warming and waste. The needs towards sustainability are there from the whole chain, the need is much more present than ten years ago. We now provide solutions, which were not known ten years ago.” Still, he would like to see the government stop using regulations to force companies to do things differently. Developments now move at lightning speed, also in relation to the investment burden, causing companies to run into problems. A more realistic interpretation of framework conditions would only benefit our country, Egging said.

Future

Under Egging’s watchful eye, TBK Group is taking another step towards a future where the company not only supplies products, but also offers technical solutions. During a round of introductions, he became even more impressed with the organisation, than he already was. ”Just look at IFE Benelux, where we offer tailor-made solutions for the reuse and separation of bulk materials and waste streams. The solutions we provide for that, the knowledge that is present and the ease with which we do it, is overwhelming.” says Egging, who paints a rosy picture of the future with TBK Group as a total caregiver for all business activities. ”Customers should see us as a problem solver, removing risks based on expertise.”

Spill and dust control at glass factory Vidrala Santos Barosa
To avoid wasting raw materials in glass production, TBK Group carried out a technical inventory and steps were taken to avoid spillage and dust at the conveyor belts. The Portuguese glass factory Vidrala Santos Barosa enlisted the help of TBK Group to avoid wasting raw materials in glass production. During a visit to the factory last April, a technical inventory was carried out and the first steps were taken to avoid spillage and dust at the conveyor belts. The over 130 year old glass factory was taken over in 2017 by the Spanish concern Vidrala. This group owns several glass factories in Spain, Portugal and Italy, among other countries. In the factory, where tradition and modernisation merge, around 425 million glass bottles for beer and wine are produced each year. Prevention of waste Glass is a product that consists of various, precisely combined raw materials, which are processed at very high temperatures. ”The conveyor belts are the heart of the raw material supply for glass production in the factory,” explains Micha Bermentloo, export manager at TBK Group. After the raw materials are deposited on the conveyors,

No more wear and tear at coal and iron ore conveyor belts
Spillage of conveyor belts caused wear and tear, contamination, extra maintenance and extra time. TBK Spillage Control solves this by installing an impact bed and bars, sealing blocks and skirt liners. Material spillage has long been a thorn in the side of a large company processing coal and iron ore. It caused wear and tear, pollution and a maintenance-intensive way of working at the dumping point. TBK Spillage Control brought the matter back into line by implementing an ImpTek impact bed, impact bars, Spill-Ex sealing blocks and ProTek ceramic skirt liners. Efficiency and optimisation The more than 30-metre-long conveyor is located under dumping points of three other conveyor belts. Because the bulk material has to make a right-angled turn at this point, dropping several metres, this point is subject to extra stress. The result? Belt wear, spillage and dust contamination. TBK Spillage Control was able to eliminate the contamination by installing a custom-made dumping point in combination with an ImpTek impact bed and corresponding impact bars. In addition, TBK implemented sustainable Spill-Ex sealing blocks provide a more efficient, less labour-intensive and

Conveyor belt ArcelorMittal on the right track with Centrax
Trouble-free belt conveying is crucial for ArcelorMittal in Belgian Gent. CenTrax ensures that the conveyor belt remains aligned along its entire length. At its location in Ghent, ArcelorMittal Belgium was experiencing severe misalignment problems with their 225 conveyor belts, which have a total length of 58 kilometres. The damage caused to the conveyor, its structure and unplanned downtime resulted in high costs, loss of production and consequential losses. Tim Vertriest, reliability engineer at ArcelorMittal Ghent, decided to find a solution: “The CenTrax tracking system came out best in our comparison search, and has proved to be a lasting solution.“ 10 million tonnes of raw materials A trouble-free conveyor belt is crucial for a company such as ArcelorMittal. The Raw Materials, Port, Transport and Recycling divisions of the world’s largest steel producer processes almost 10 million tonnes of raw materials annually. This particular logistics branch deals with unloading seagoing vessels and the careful separation and storage of delivered raw materials to so-called raw material storage areas. Harbour cranes

DCP supplies sustainable dedusting installation to Rotterdam bulk terminal ‘Collected dust returned into the production flow’
DCP supplies sustainable dedusting installation to Rotterdam bulk terminal
‘Collected dust returned into the production flow’ Companies are increasingly prioritizing the development and maintenance of safe and environmentally responsible working conditions. Government rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, and the essential health of employees is paramount. Processors of dust-sensitive products also understand the benefits and necessity of removing, minimising and managing dust emissions to achieve a healthy working environment. For example, a processor of soya beans and rapeseed in the Rotterdam port area equipped a number of loading points in its bulk terminal with sustainable dedusting equipment supplied by Dust Control Partners (DCP). “Previously, it wasn`t really possible to enter the room without respiratory protection. Now, the dust is extracted at source and returns back into the production flow,” says Henrik Baas, account manager at DCP. The project in the port of Rotterdam can quite rightly be called unique. In order to achieve optimal extraction, DCP has fitted four
