EEU-System reduces specific energy consumption of dry ultrafine grinding. Today functional fillers are confronted with steadily increasing requirements. Applications, e.g., in in polymer industry, used to be satisfied with extender fillers, which cheapened the compound. During the last decade the material profile has changed from pure volume filler to functional additives and fillers. But that is not good enough by half. Striving for sustainable ways of production and low carbon footprint begins in raw material processing and sets new standards. Modern spiral jet mills are the state of the art in the micronization of highly lamellar fillers. With their specific type of comminution based on shear forces, the particle shape significant for the downstream applications - whether in flake or needle form - can be preserved or even improved. The Spiral Type Jetmill of PMT-Jetmill is specialized in optimizing air streams to improve efficiencies and to minimize energy consumption. One application example is Wollastonite. The material is fed pneumatically to the spiral jetmill and runs spirally through the milling chamber. Grinding media enters the area through the milling nozzles. Grinding media is either compressed air (3.5 to 15 bar and 240°C) or superheated steam (up to 24 bar and 400°C). The air stream fluidizes the material-bed and lifts as much particles as possible into the stream. Comminution is mainly based on shearing forces which result from velocity differences. The integrated dynamic classifier is capable to run at a maximum circumferential speed of 190 m/s. As soon as the particles reach a certain fineness, they can pass the classifier to the final product. The fineness can be easily adjusted by variation of the classifier speed. PMT-Jetmill has developed the Jet-Classifier JS operating in positive pressure condition. Based on this special operation these classifiers have the finest range of products in high content recovery. This can also be achieved on an industrial scale. All types of powders Classifying means separation in a coarse and a fine fraction. Basically all types of powdery raw materials can be processed. Caused by strong agglomerates due to high surface forces, common classifying systems achieve only low classifying efficiency. The PMT Jet-classifier JS operates under positive pressure in order to optimize dispersion of the feed material based on high shear forces. The first positive pressure classifier for the submicron range leads to high content recovery even in the finest cut-point range. What materials we can grind at PMT Powder Maker Group
Smooth grinding of soft to middle hard materials with spiral jet mills in toll grinding center Kammern. PMT Powder Maker Group GmbH is specialized in dry grinding and classifying of ultra-fine particles. Grindability depends on material structure and type. Our spiral jetmill grinds soft to middle hard materials (Mohshardness 1-6) in a smooth way. Ductile and elastic materials can be dispersed and deagglomerated if applicable, but not ground. Grindable materials cover industrial minerals (like Zeolite, Clay, Barite, Mica, Kaolin, Talc, Bentonite) and chemical products (like Petrol coke, pigments, melamin, glass) and natural products (like alga, seed, egg shells or cocoa). Grindability details are determined in a grinding trial with which achievable particle sizes, capacities and specific energy consumptions are found.
