Lödige Maschinenbau at IFAT 2024: Sewage sludge conditioning
The presentation of Gebrüder Lödige Maschinenbau GmbH at IFAT focuses on the efficient and reliable conditioning sewage sludge. An ongoing project demonstrates the potential of continuous Ploughshare® mixers in mixing and texturing. The processing of highly heterogeneous material flows, e.g. from sewage treatment plants, power stations, recycling plants or mining operations, to enable their safe and marketable reuse is a highly demanding process engineering task. Application-specific Ploughshare® mixers manufactured by Lödige Maschinenbau offer good results for sludge, dust and other bulk materials. One of Germany’s biggest sewage treatment plants Every year 220,000 tonnes of sewage sludge are generated by the Bottrop sewage treatment plant and neighbouring plants of the Emschergenossenschaft and Lippeverband water boards. In order to guarantee an optimum thermal process, this sewage sludge must be conditioned prior to incineration. The focus is thereby placed on dry matter content (DM content). This means that a specific mixing ratio of moist and dried sewage sludge and a high degree of homogeneity are essential for the quality of thermal utilisation. In addition, requirements exist regarding

Lödige Maschinenbau at Anuga FoodTec 2024
At Anuga FoodTec Lödige Maschinenbau will be demonstrating, how Ploughshare® and CoriMix® Mixers can be used in in the production of meat substitutes. Vegan meat alternatives made from protein sources such as cereals or pulses require process engineering solutions that enable high throughputs and homogeneous component mixing. As Gebrüder Lödige Maschinenbau GmbH will be demonstrating at this year’s Anuga FoodTec (Stand 10.1 / G091), Ploughshare® and CoriMix® Mixers can meet this requirement at several points in the process chain. The industrial production process for meat substitutes involves a number of stages, from the preparation of protein sources into a protein concentrate or isolate and texturised vegetable proteins: (TVP) through to the finished meat equivalent. Mixing dry additives before extrusion as well as liquids into the extruded TVP play a key role in the quality of the end product. The manufacturing process can generally be carried out continuously or in batch operation. It is also possible to use a combination of both processes in a quasi-continuous operation. The ideal operating mode depends

Tablet coating in all its facets
On 18 and 19 October 2023, experts from all over Germany met on the topic of tablet coating at the Lödige Coating Seminar Technical innovations from the industry, practical trials and personal dialogue with colleagues on the topic of tablet coating: with this tried-and-tested mix, the Lödige Coating Seminar has established itself as a fixture in the pharmaceutical industry. On 18 and 19 October 2023, experts from all over Germany met again for the latest edition of the format at Lödige’s headquarters in Paderborn. The two-day conference programme once again focused on the latest technologies and trends in the areas of coating processes, coatings and nozzle technology. This year’s programme also focused on cleaning processes for coating systems. In addition to host Lödige, three technology and support partners were represented with specialised presentations: Colorcon, specialist for coating lacquers and functional additives; Düsen-Schlick, expert for spray technology production processes; and Ecolab, solution provider in the areas of water, hygiene and infection prevention. Production of veterinary chewable tablets in the Ploughshare Mixer Efficient process technology for dogs and cats
Production of veterinary chewable tablets in the Ploughshare Mixer
Efficient process technology for dogs and cats The demand for veterinary products is increasing worldwide – and with it the need for particularly efficient, hygienic manufacturing processes. As the example of chewable tablets for dogs and cats shows, Ploughshare® Mixers can meet the specific requirements particularly well in several respects. From a technical process point of view, such chewable tablets mainly consist of dry raw materials: In the basic recipe, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) or other additives, such as vitamins or flavours, are added to a basic product (e.g. corn starch or protein powder). The first intermediate product is thus a powdery dry mixture. After this premixing, liquid components, e.g. liquid polymer (PEG or macrogol) or oils (e.g. soya oil, fish oil) are added and incorporated in a second step. At room temperature, however, these liquids can harden or crystallise in contact with the mixer or the mixed material before they are completely distributed. Therefore, both the

Lödige Process Technology at Interpack 2023
At the Interpack trade fair, Lödige Process Technology will put the spotlight on tablet film coating and present a new coater series as an attractively priced alternative. Putting the focus on tablet film coating: At Interpack, Lödige Process Technology will showcase the current LC light series product range. With its standardised design, it is an attractively priced alternative to the customised machines of the existing LC series. The in-house development is a state-of-the-art film coater from Lödige’s German production. However, the machine’s special feature is its consistent focus on standardised functionality. That means: no work is required for designing and programming a customised solution. This leads to a significant cost advantage over Lödige’s customised special machine designs. Lödige will transfer the lower costs to their customers in the form of an approximately 40 percent reduction in price. A second advantage is the reduction in delivery times for the LC light series. The cost-efficient, standardised new coater model offers all the key advantages of the LC series: The series is distinguished, for instance,
