Several years ago, Adams Industrievertretungen – a representative agent for Vortex Global – was approached by a systems group to discuss a new original equipment manufacturer (OEM) opportunity. This particular systems group specializes in the design and construction of roasters and other coffee processing systems.

Typically, this systems group would construct their own simple gate valves for use in their coffee roasting systems. But after attending an exhibition where Vortex products were on display, they became interested in Vortex design. In particular, they were impressed with the Orifice Gate. With that, the systems group contacted Adams Industrievertretungen to request a trial order of Vortex Orifice Gates, to be integrated within their coffee roasting systems.

• Size: 350 mm
• Gate frame, flanges & safety covers constructed from aluminum
• Gate blade & material contact areas constructed from 304 stainless steel
• Blade is electropolished to accommodate wash-down
• Pressure plates constructed from PET polymer & are “live-loaded” with compressed natural rubber load seals
• Rated for 82 C maximum continuous service
• Stainless steel tubing & fittings
• Sealed body, for a positive seal of air & materials across the gate & to atmosphere

These three Orifice Gates were installed as part of a roasting system supplied to an coffee processor. The system began operations in late 2016. Both the systems group and the end user customer have been very satisfied with the performance found in Vortex products; so much so that this order has resulted in many additional orders for Orifice Gates and Roller Gates to be used in this group’s systems.

Although the systems group continues to self-construct simple gate valves on occasion, they are becoming more and more familiar with the benefits found in Vortex products.
