WAREX VALVE GmbH, based in Senden, is expanding its portfolio of high-quality industrial valves with a process butterfly valve specifically developed for demanding applications. The shut-off and control butterfly valve Type CST DN100 has been designed for use in process air handling within pharmaceutical plants, combining hygienic design with precise control technology and maximum operational safety. For a current project, 7 units have already been successfully manufactured and delivered.
Stainless Steel Housing Tailored to Customer Requirements
A key differentiating feature of the new valve is its fully stainless steel housing made from material 1.4404. While standard butterfly valves are often made from cast materials, this solution was implemented in response to specific customer requirements using a highly corrosion-resistant stainless steel design. Especially in sensitive industries such as pharmaceuticals, where cleanliness, cleanability, and material resistance are critical, this design offers a clear advantage.
Hygienic Design and Well-Engineered Construction
The valve design consistently follows hygienic design principles. Polished stainless steel surfaces, combined with a flow-optimized and dead-space-free construction, minimize residue buildup and significantly simplify cleaning processes. An integrated shaft extension ensures thermal and structural decoupling between the process and the actuator. This protects the actuator components and enables insulation of the valve and pipeline system.
Safety Function with Spring-Closing Actuator
To ensure maximum operational safety, the control butterfly valve is equipped with a spring-closing pneumatic actuator. In the event of a power or energy failure, the valve automatically moves to a predefined safe position. This fail-safe function is essential, particularly in critical process environments.
Precise Control with Integrated Siemens Technology
Positioning is achieved via a mounted positioner of type Siemens SIPART PS2. This system provides:
- Precise positioning
- High control accuracy
- Integrated 4–20 mA position feedback
- Seamless integration into existing control systems
The unit is complemented by a directly mounted filter unit with a filtration rating of 5 µm, ensuring consistently high instrument air quality. This enhances both control performance and component lifespan. In addition, an integrated mechanical position indicator allows for quick visual verification of the valve position directly on site.
FDA-Compliant Sealing for Maximum Hygiene Requirements
Another key component is the white PTFE sealing, compliant with FDA regulations (21 CFR 177.1550) as well as EC 1935/2004 and EU 2011. It offers:
- High chemical resistance
- Minimal adhesion
- Suitability for hygienically sensitive applications
Conclusion
With the control butterfly valve Type CST DN100, WAREX VALVE GmbH delivers a well-engineered and technically advanced solution for demanding applications in the pharmaceutical industry – from material selection to automation.
