Storage and loading of protein-containing meals

Jansen&Heuning designed a logistic system for the processing of blood meal, meat meal and feather meal. Contamination was an important issue.
For abattoir waste processor Noblesse, our engineers studied the processing of blood meal, meat meal and feather meal. In this process, contamination, among other things, had to be taken into account. How did they do this?

At Noblesse proteins the existing production site had to be improved in terms of storage and loading. The available height is 11,000 mm at the ridge and 9,500 mm at the wall, the width of tents is 45,000 mm.

The main challenge for our engineers was that it had to be possible to mix from all of the silos. In addition, we had to ensure two completely separate lines to prevent contamination. Finally, all silos had to be placed on load cells for the correct dosage.

Objectives

  • Storage capacity: feather meal 300 tons; meat meal 600 tons; blood meal 60 tons
  • Loading with movable conveyor above the cars with loading bellows
  • loading with a capacity of 60-80 tons/hour

The system consists of:

  • new silo block consisting of five silos of over 100 m3
  • revision and reuse of four existing silos
  • silos for even filling; fitted with distribution screws
  • double discharge screws under the silos to prevent bridging
  • horizontal and vertical chain conveyors for closed transport to the loading area
  • eight spot filters that keep the transporters and loading bellows under pressure
  • bigbag filling station with weighing hopper, capacity 20/30 bigbags per hour
  • loading with two mobile screws equipped with loading bellows for open trucks and bulk trucks
  • automatic sampler
  • Control with PLC Siemens S7 and HMI

Result

Jansen&Heuning designed a logistic system to meet the requirements of the customer. The customer was very satisfied with the result of our research. Because of this we were commissioned to carry out the project. Jansen&Heuning has executed this project completely in-house, including detail engineering, project management, machine construction, control and assembly.

Jansen & Heuning modifies transport system in Western Port Area
In the Western Docklands of Amsterdam, ICL Amsterdam is located. This factory annually produces approximately 550,000 tons of high quality potassium and phosphate fertilizers. To improve the production line of ground phosphate, Jansen&Heuning modified the transport system. The work consisted of: * Replacing the old silo/delivery of a new silo * Extension of the existing elevator * Delivery of drop tubes/replacement of old drop tubes * Delivery of a new transport screw * Adjustment of the floors * adapting existing pipework

Unique screw conveyor for sugar processing company
Diameter 800 mm; capacity 150 tonnes/hour; length 13 meter; rotating around its central inlet point. A unique screw conveyor. Jansen&Heuning designed a screw conveyor to transport sugar for sugar beet company Cosun in Hoogkerk. Cosun Beet Company aims to be the greenest and the most innovative sugar beet processor in the world and our engineers got a chance to contribute to this goal. The sugar is transported to the silos with a transportation system. All sugar is stored in four large silos where each silo is divided into 3 compartments: the core, the inner ring and the outer ring. These compartments are filled evenly. Formerly, the silos were filled using a mobile conveyor belt, however, such a system is never 100% clean and is sensitive to errors. Therefore, our engineers designed a rotating screw conveyor. The screw rests on a slewing ring and a wheelset in the middle, that moves the machine around. The screw conveyor has a diameter of 800 mm and is completely made of stainless steel 304. The filling capacity is approximately 150 tonnes/hour. With a length of 13 meter, this is a

Pre-cleaner with cyclone installation for plastic recycling Jansen&Heuning installed a pre-cleaner with cyclone installation for plastic recycling and compounding company REK Europe B.V. in Oosterhout (NL).
Pre-cleaner with cyclone installation for plastic recycling
Jansen&Heuning installed a pre-cleaner with cyclone installation for plastic recycling and compounding company REK Europe B.V. in Oosterhout (NL). REK Europe uses plastic waste which they process into high-quality raw materials for plastics processing companies, by grinding, homogenizing and compounding the plastic waste. After installing the pre-cleaner, the existing frame had to be modified. Therefore, Jansen&Heuning made a separate frame for the cyclone with accompanying filter bags, so that a big bag could be placed under the cyclone and the filter bags could be easily unloaded. The hard particles from the extracted product can be loaded into big bags and the remaining air is filtered with filter bags. The pre-cleaner works well and removes about 99% of the angel hair from the plastic granule: a successful project.

Stable two meter high big bags with a filler and shaker station in one
Jansen&Heuning made a smart modification to an existing big bag filling station, thus creating fully filled, stable big bags of 2 meters high. Most big bags are slightly over meters high. But how do you ensure a good big bag filling process and stable big bags when they are almost 2 metres high? With this question, HSR Packaging from Ede (NL) came to Jansen&Heuning. We started working on a smart modification of the existing big bag filling station: a big bag fill- and shake station in one. The problem: unstable, poorly filled big bags The big bags at HSR Verpakkingen are almost 2 meters high and are filled with various recycling products. The client noticed that big bags could not be filled fully with the old big bag filling station, because the contents were loosely added to the big bags. In addition, they noticed that the filled big bags did not stand very stable on the pallets, which is necessary with big bags of almost 2 meters high. The solution: bigbag shaking and filling station in one Jansen&Heuning designed a modification of the existing big bag filling stations by adding a big bag shaking

Innovative spreading cabinets for precision castings
Jansen&Heuning have developed a series of spreading boxes for CIREX, to evenly spread ceramic powders on a wax model. The innovative installations contribute to optimizing the production process and improving the quality of the cast, steel and metal components. Steel and metal foundry CIREX bv manufactures complex components for global industry; from knife heads and pump parts to transport wheels and sensor housing. These are often high-tech components that must comply with class D3 tolerances, as laid down in the internationally recognized German standard VDG-P690. CIREX uses the ‘lost wax model’ method to produce the precision castings. Wax Tree One of the many process steps in the ‘lost wax model’ method is that a ‘wax tree’ -which consists of a series of wax molds-is coated with a ceramic layer, to eventually arrive at a cast result. The wax tree is imersed in a slurry, raised and then dusted with a ceramic powder (a type of sand), followed by a drying process. This is a cycle that repeats itself seven to nine times. Finally a refractory, ceramic mantle is formed
