Asymmetrical drum funnel
Asymmetrical drum funnel

Asymmetrical drum funnels

Asymmetrical drum funnels for controlled filling and emptying of drums and similar containers.

Asymmetric funnels are used primarily in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries and are designed for applications with high requirements for material resistance, hygiene, and process reliability.

Manufactured from austenitic stainless steel 1.4404 (AISI 316L). This material offers high corrosion resistance to aggressive media as well as good mechanical properties and is suitable for contact with sensitive products. The asymmetrical design supports targeted material flow and facilitates largely complete emptying, thereby reducing product residues and losses.

To improve cleanability, the inner surfaces are treated using the Optimized Grind Finishing (OGF) process. The resulting surface roughness of Ra < 0.25 µm reduces particle adhesion and supports hygienic cleaning processes. In addition, the drum funnels are electropolished to further increase surface smoothness and corrosion resistance.

The design of drum funnels complies with GMP guidelines and is integrated into a quality management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015. High tightness and mechanical stability of the components contribute to safe operation and minimize the risk of leaks and contamination.

Depending on the respective application, the asymmetrical drum funnels can be designed with different inlet and outlet geometries, sealing systems, and other customer-specific adaptations. This allows integration into existing process plants.

Due to the choice of materials and surface treatment, the drum funnels are designed for long-term use. The reduced cleaning and maintenance requirements contribute to economical use and lower operating costs over the entire life cycle.

Damage to stainless steel barrels often leads to costly replacements – even though much of the damage can be reliably repaired. This extends service life and reduces costs Stainless steel drums are an indispensable part of production logistics in the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics, and biotechnology industries. Damage to stainless steel barrels often leads to costly replacements – even though much of the damage can be reliably repaired. This extends service life and reduces costs Economical and sustainable at the same time High-quality repairs to stainless steel drums not only save costs, but also significantly extend the service life of the drums. At the same time, material usage, energy consumption, and waste are reduced – a direct contribution to sustainable production processes in sensitive industries. Free sample repair as a basis for decision-making Bolz Intec offers a free sample repair to enable companies to make an informed assessment. After photos have been sent in, the company checks the technical feasibility without obligation. A cleaned drum can then be submitted for a complete sample repair. The result serves

Patent for Bolz Intec: Optimised Grind Finishing® process
Milestone for surface innovation in stainless steel - result of years of research together with the University of Constance BOLZ INTEC GmbH has completed a significant development step: The Optimised Grind Finishing® process (OGF), developed in close cooperation with the University of Konstanz, was successfully patented at the end of March 2025. This marks the culmination of several years of research work - with a process that takes stainless steel processing for high-tech applications to a new level. Optimised Grind Finishing® (OGF) reduces particle adhesion to stainless steel surfaces to an unprecedented minimum. This makes a significant contribution to reducing the risk of product contamination and ensuring the integrity of sensitive manufacturing processes - for example in the production of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or fine chemicals. In addition, the improved cleanability of the surfaces enables a significant reduction in the use of abrasives, aggressive cleaning chemicals, water and energy. The process therefore not only contributes to product quality and safety, but also supports
