POWTECH 2016: efficient recycling processes

Building and non-metallic mineral industry assumes a key role

Experience the latest developments in mechanical processing technology at first hand: from 19 to 21 April 2016, POWTECH will once again attract trade visitors from a wide range of industries to the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre. Around 900 exhibitors will showcase their innovations and best practice solutions for manufacturing, processing and handling bulk solids, granules and powders. The exhibition will focus on technologies that are assuming a key role in the building and non-metallic mineral industry and recycling sector, providing experts from these industries with valuable inspiration for more efficient production and recycling.

Mechanical processing technology is not just indispensable when producing new building materials; it also makes a considerable contribution to the recovery and recycling of construction waste. As part of its “Construction Industry Closed-Loop Economy” initiative, the German building industry is striving to further minimise the volume of mineral construction waste. According to a report published in 2015, the latest recycling rate was more than 90 percent of all mineral construction waste occurring.

Achieving ambitious recycling targets

In the case of granular fractions, the sector achieved a recycling rate of as much as 95.5 percent, far in excess of the 70 percent that will be required in future by the EU Waste Framework Directive. This means that the recycling of construction materials is also providing important momentum across industries in respect of the conservation and efficiency of resources. It is mechanical processes that ensure the technological prerequisites for achieving this. Pulverising, size reduction, separation, screening and fractionating, filtering, analysing and transportation are the key technologies used in the often elaborate, multi-stage recycling process. “In 2016, all these technologies will once again feature prominently at POWTECH, the leading trade fair for mechanical processing technology,” confirms Beate Fischer, Project Manager for this event at NürnbergMesse. “Our exhibitors will showcase their latest developments, from massive hammer mills to filters for separating very small raw materials. Visitors from the construction and non-metallic mineral and recycling sectors will obtain a comprehensive overview about the state-of-the-art and guidance to help them optimise the cost efficiency of their processes.”

Meet the experts and learn something new

At POWTECH 2016, more than 300 exhibitors will present their solutions and innovations for the construction, non-metallic mineral and recycling sectors. Many of the plant and equipment vendors will conduct live demonstrations of their new systems at their stands. Three expert forums on processing technology and bulk solids handling will offer plenty of scope for knowledge-sharing.
