Relying on regularity

BEUMER develops blending beds for different bulk goods

In many industrial processes – as for example in the cement industry – the regularity of the raw materials used plays an important role in the manufacture of products. This uniform consistency is ensured through blending beds located within the storage yard. As a system supplier, BEUMER Group develops stackers and bridge scrapers, the essential components of blending beds, which stack bulk material reliably and guarantee a maximum blending effect. Thus, operators can homogenise large quantities of various bulk materials dependably and efficiently. BEUMER employees can perform the complete engineering of the blending bed systems.

It is a long way until a bag of cement arrives at the building site. When the component raw materials are mined and transformed into cement at the cement plant, they pass through many different stages. The most important raw materials for cement production are limestone, clay and marl. Workers break them out of quarries or extract them with heavy tools. Wheel loaders and dump trucks transport the raw materials to the crushing facilities. There, the rocks are crushed to the approximate size of road gravel. These rocks then arrive at the cement works via miles long belt conveyors.

A consistent quality must be ensured so that the producers can further process the material to high-quality cement – fluctuations in the material characteristics must not occur. Therefore, a belt conveyor transports the individual raw materials to the blending beds. These storage location systems mix and homogenise the raw materials.

For almost 80 years, BEUMER has been developing tailor-made system solutions in conveying technology for the stone and quarry industry, power plant industry, mining (ores and coal) as well as the logistics industry (harbours and transshipment terminals). Through structural analysis of the associated storage depots and calculation of dimensions, BEUMER is able to provide a design. BEUMER proposes either longitudinal or circular stockpile designs. The recommended design shape results from the spatial conditions and the amount of the material to be stored. Depending on the field of application, BEUMER designed blending beds can be used at extreme ambient temperatures, for very high entry conveying capacities, as well as for the highest degree of homogenisation required. Additionally, BEUMER provides material-specific detailed solutions with robust and low-wear equipment.

Belt conveying systems or trucks
Which of them ensures more efficient bulk material transport? Finally it should be sustain Modern cropping technologies require systems capable of transporting bulk materials quickly and efficiently from the quarry to the destination, and through rough terrain as well. Often trucks are used in this regard. Depending on the nature of the terrain, however, trucks rapidly reach their limits as they need, for example, well-developed roads. The costs arising for construction, maintenance and possible extension are not insignificant. In addition, all of this implies serious landscape changes. The emissions caused by truck traffic are undoubtedly high, both with regard to toxic substances and to noise and dust. With its belt conveyors, BEUMER provides an economical and environmentally protective solution for bulk material and piece good transport. The belt conveyors are able to navigate long distances, high angles of inclination and tight curve radii, and can be adapted individually to the respective application and topography. The landscape changes are minimal

Smaller, faster, more practical
BEUMER has developed a new machine from the BEUMER stretch hood model range The BEUMER stretch hood A sees the BEUMER Group redesign its tried-and-trusted packaging system from scratch. During the development, our specialists analysed various components and optimised them in terms of function, arrangement and ergonomics. The topic of safety when transporting and storing palletised products has been becoming more important. This is what prompted BEUMER to develop a new machine in its proven BEUMER stretch hood model range that offers even more practical and safer handling for the user, compared with other machines in this model range. To facilitate work for maintenance staff, and thus ensure higher machine availability, the new BEUMER stretch hood A is accessable without a platform and steps. Maintenance work, such as changing the blades, or the sealing bars, are now handled at floor level. The operator opens a drawer for these activities, providing free access to blades and sealing bars. The machine is automatically brought to a standstill

From the packing machine straight to the truck bed BEUMER autopac: System simultaneously loads and palletises bags filled with bulk material
From the packing machine straight to the truck bed
BEUMER autopac: System simultaneously loads and palletises bags filled with bulk material With the BEUMER autopac, BEUMER Group has a system in its portfolio that loads bagged materials like cement directly from the packing machine onto the truck bed. The bags are palletised automatically in stacked rows or patterns. The system is particularly efficient in emerging market nations, where the transshipment of bagged bulked goods is increasing and labour costs are climbing. The BEUMER autopac simultaneously loads and palletises bagged goods without needing pallets. Therefore, it is suitable for use in countries were no pallets are available, or where their use is uncommon. In rows or stacking patterns with a pre-selected number of layers, the BEUMER autopac works quickly and effectively. Depending on the performance class, the system stacks between 2,400 and 3,000 50 kilogram bags per hour. The loading height, including the height of the truck bed, can be up to 3.5 meters (for a platform height of 5 meters). The user has flexibility in forming the layers,

Always in Top Form Palletising of bags even more gentle thanks to the BEUMER twin-belt turning device
Always in Top Form
Palletising of bags even more gentle thanks to the BEUMER twin-belt turning device The BEUMER Group product range now includes the twin-belt turning device, which allows for palletising of bags filled with bulk material in an even more gentle way. The twin-belt turning device represents an alternative to the existing clamp-type turning device. This new development works with two separately driven belt conveyors, which by applying a differential speed between both belts enables turning the bag to be palletised by 90 degrees, and, in particular cases also by 180 degrees. This procedure ensures a dimensionally stable bag. This is important for the achievement of stable bag stacks for products with particular flow behaviour and for soft bags. The twin-belt turning device is used with the BEUMER paletpac high-capacity palletiser. With a stack height of up to 2,400 millimetres, the BEUMER paletpac high-capacity palletiser palletises bags filled with bulk material on any commonly used pallet size and in all technically feasible packing patterns. The variable
