International Pioneers in Simulation & Engineering Meet in Darmstadt

This October, the Cadfem World Conference will take place in the city of Darmstadt, Germany. For the first time, it will bring together providers and stakeholders from the global numerical simulation and computer-aided engineering community.
The event will feature renowned speakers and keynote presenters from organizations including the US-based semiconductor and software company Synopsys, the AI company Qudora Technologies, and plant engineering specialist Krones. The program for the three-day conference has now been released.

The conference opens on October 20 with the “Meet the Developers” format. In seven sessions, professionals from a wide range of industries and companies will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with a total of 30 leading developers and experts from Synopsys and Cadfem and to ask questions about Ansys, the world’s leading simulation software. In addition, companies, universities, and student teams will present live demonstrations and best-practice examples from their work with simulation software in a comprehensive exhibition.

Benefits of Using Digital Twins and AI

On the two following days, engineers and experts from universities, companies, and research institutions will share their experiences in a further 100 workshops and presentations, showing how they use simulation – in research and product development, to optimize processes, to reduce energy consumption or material usage, and to address other aspects of sustainability and economic efficiency. Particular attention will be given to topics such as reliability and efficiency, as well as real-time optimization of simulations and processes, for example through GPUs in simulation or the application of AI agents (agentic AI) within digital twins.
The examples and explanations presented will also demonstrate the successes and competitive advantages that can already be achieved today through the combination of simulation with AI and digital twins. In addition, current industrial requirements will be discussed, including those related to mobility and defense.

Keynotes by international technology executives

Speakers will come from international technology and industrial companies, such as Liebherr-Aerospace, Harman Becker Automotive Systems, Robert Bosch, Krones, ZIEHL-ABEGG, Schaeffler, and Siemens Energy, as well as from academic institutions including Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). Keynote speakers include Sassine Ghazi (CEO of Synopsys), Steve Pytel (Senior Vice President S&A Product Management at Synopsys, Inc.), Thomas Albrecht (Head of Analytics and Simulation at Krones AG), Simon Wolfangel (Section Manager Digitalization, Robert Bosch GmbH), Amado Bautista-Salvador (CEO of Qudora Technologies), Satya Chakravarthy (Founder and CTO of the ePlane Company, India), and Christoph Müller from Cadfem International.

Around 1,000 participants are expected to attend the Cadfem World Conference in Darmstadt.

Heat pumps are widely used in private homes, but in industry, process heat is often still generated using natural gas. To change this, the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology in Vienna is focusing, among other things, on heat pumps for industrial process The goal is to reintegrate waste heat from existing processes back into industrial operations, thereby significantly reducing the demand for fossil fuels. The “GreenBricks” research project was jointly carried out by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and Wienerberger Austria and was recently honored with the Net Zero Industries Award in Vienna. The plant renovation at Wienerberger Austria in Uttendorf was systematically planned using digital tools developed by experts at the Center for Energy at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology.
