Qlar returns to the food and pet food industry

With its successful rebranding to Qlar in May 2024, the bulk material specialist formerly known as Schenck Process is set to make a return to the global food and pet food markets from September 1, 2025.
This re-entry follows a strategic carve-out in 2023 of its Food and Performance Materials (FPM) business and the conclusion of the non-compete agreement with Hillenbrand, Inc. (NYSE: HI). Qlar is poised to address the rising demands for accurate, energy-efficient, and hygienically designed processing technology, empowering food and pet food manufacturers to deliver on consumer expectations for safety, quality, and operational excellence. Customers can now benefit from comprehensive aftermarket, spare parts, and maintenance services, alongside new offerings designed to address today’s complex industrial challenges.

After the sale of its FPM business in September 2023 and a brief pause from the market, Qlar is re-entering the global food and pet food industry under its new name and with an invigorated mission. Qlar’s renewed approach is focused on supporting manufacturers navigating stricter safety regulations, demanding hygiene standards, and the need for continuous process optimization.
With a commitment to high-precision solutions, Qlar offers a comprehensive range of process technologies, including weighing, feeding solutions and corresponding digital monitoring systems. All Qlar technologies are designed with hygiene and efficiency in mind, enabling producers to achieve consistent product quality and flexible production while optimizing resources and minimizing risks.

“Food and pet food producers are navigating more stringent requirements than ever, not only in terms of quality and safety, but also in meeting the industry’s growing commitment to sustainability and circularity,” says Manfred Bruckner, Chief Sales Officer at Qlar Group. “At Qlar, our mission is to deliver reliable, efficient, and hygienic process solutions that empower our customers to boost productivity while minimizing waste and resource use. We are proud to support manufacturers who are driving progress toward a more sustainable and circular food system.”

Qlar’s portfolio is further supported by dedicated aftermarket services, including maintenance, spare parts, technical upgrades, and responsive support, to help food and pet food processors operate with maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.

Qlar enables precise material testing in the expanded TestCenter
It’s all in the mix – with the completed expansion of its TestCenter in Darmstadt, Qlar (formerly Schenck Process) now offers its customers comprehensive support in the simulation of blending processes. Testing and optimising additives in concrete production By reducing the proportion of clinker, the cement industry aims to drastically cut CO₂ emissions in production. Cement manufacturers are therefore increasingly turning to additives such as granulated blast furnace slag, fly ash, calcined clay, recycled concrete and others. However, the different raw materials must be fed and blended in exact proportions to ensure the desired product quality. With the now expanded TestCenter in Darmstadt, Qlar offers perfect conditions for simulating such process steps and working with customers to validate the ideal material composition for the desired product result. ‘With the expansion of our TestCenter to include blending trials for sustainable cement, we are marking a decisive step forward in the development of environmentally friendly building materials,’ explains André Appel, Head of the TestCenter in Darmstadt. ‘Our goal is to take a leading role in the implementation

LogiMAT 2025: Fully automated for efficient and secure logistics processes At the annual intralogistics exhibition LogiMAT 2025 in Germany, Qlar, formerly Schenck Process, is presenting its yard management system LOGiQ. The cloud-based software solution automates all logistics processes in industrial yards and combines the weighing of bulk and general cargo materials with efficient loading operations. The technology is used primarily in the cement and steel industries but is also suitable for other production areas. The yard management system LOGiQ automatically controls all traffic on the company premises – from the entry of authorized trucks to their exit. It monitors the site entrance, carries out weighing processes, ensures correct loading and captures all relevant data in real time. This information is integrated into an ERP system, such as SAP, to provide up-to-date sales and administration data. LOGiQ also enables the secure integration of external gateways, which means that all logistical processes on the yard can be coordinated
